The Annual Cnference prvides ACCI Members and 1

2 cnsumer researchers, educatrs, and advcates an pprtunity t explre lcal, reginal, natinal and internatinal cnsumer issues. Terms and Cnditins First & Crrespnding Authrs will be ntified f the status f their submissins in mid- January. By submitting a prpsal, yu understand that registratin fees and travel csts are yur respnsibility. Submissins, if selected fr a submissin award, will be shared with the rganizatin spnsring the award. The spnsr will nt be allwed t publish the submissin but will be able t review it and t cntact the authrs directly by r phne. They will als be able t feature the winner and the title f the submissin n their website and thrugh PR effrts. Accepted prpsal presenters are expected t, by April 15, 2019: (1) register and pay registratin fees, and membership if membership has lapsed (r becme a member if nt yet jined), (2) make yur htel reservatins t stay at the site htel. There is a $100 savings n the registratin fee by staying at the site htel; lcal attendees may call the ffice fr waiver f this requirement. All presenters (bth ral and pster) will be asked t submit t the 2019 Cnference Prceedings, the Cnsumer Interests Annual. These are typically due abut five weeks after the cnference. Diverse research perspectives n these tpics, including cnsumer research, advcacy, plicy, prtectin, and educatin are als encuraged. Submissins that are theretically grunded and cntain significant implicatins fr cnsumer welfare and prtectin are apprpriate. Prpsal submissins that examine the shrt- and lng-term effects f ecnmic instability n cnsumer interests due t changing scial, health, and ecnmic shcks are encuraged. 3 being. ACCI prmtes the cnsumer interest by encuraging, prducing and cmmunicating plicy- and prtectin-relevant research. Prceedings Presenters, bth ral and featured research (pster) presenters, are required t submit, at a minimum, an abstract t the Cnsumer Interests Annual (CIA). Presenters whse research is pending publicatin may request nt t have their prpsal psted. In the absence f a mre extensive r revised submissin, what was submitted in the prpsal will be used as their CIA submissin. The Cnsumers Interest Annual pstings are frequently cited. Types f Submissins Featured Research Presentatins (Psters) Featured Research Presentatins (Psters) will be highlighted during the meeting: One authr will be given 60 secnds t summarize the pster rally in a general sessin, immediately prir t the pster sessin. Fllwing the ral 60-secnd verview, authrs must be present t discuss their wrk with cnference attendees in an infrmal setting. Pster presentatins must meet the fllwing criteria: Maximum pster size will be cnfirmed clser t the cnference. Frame f apprximately 1 arund the perimeter. The ACCI lg must be included n the pster in a size equal t the institutin lg. A template is prvided, and its use is required. Pster prpsals d nt qualify fr awards. 6 able t discuss an emerging issue with demnstrated ptential t stimulate new knwledge, prmte innvative practices r influence plicy. Preference is given t submissins frm multiple, established, tpical experts, and ideally, frm different disciplines r perspectives. These sessins will be abut 90 minutes lng. A Prpsal fr a sympsium shuld identify the key tpic r pressing cnsumer issue in 500 r fewer wrds. It must describing hw the sympsium is innvative, timely, prmtes interactive practices and/r has the ptential t imprve plicy. Include a shrt abstract fr each wrk. It will be extremely helpful if the prpser(s) can identify clsely related research. Fr example, tw r three references can be prvided alng with a brief synpsis f each study (all within 500 wrds). If yu have an idea fr a sympsium, please cntact the ACCI Office prir t creating yur submissin. The ideas will be submitted t a cmmittee f the Bard fr cnsideratin. Nt all awards are given every year. Award recipients shuld plan t attend the cnference and present; registratin fees are nt waived, and travel is n yur wn. CFP Bard s ACCI Financial Planning Award This award is designed t encurage research and writing in the area f persnal financial planning. T be cnsidered the submissin must be a well-written schlarly submissin that fcuses n imprtant financial planning issues, bradly defined t include the varius areas f persnal financial planning and cnsumer issues related t financial planning and presents infrmatin r ideas that are useful fr cnsumers as well as fr prfessinals and plicymakers. Previusly published papers are nt eligible fr this award and thse funded in whle r in part by a CFP Bard research grant are nt eligible; hwever, subsequent prpsals based n the research may be cnsidered. 7

Cnsumer Mvement Archives Applied Cnsumer Ecnmics Award - Student Presentatin This award is given fr a prpsal that addresses practical and everyday prblems that cnsumers face. Cmpetitive prpsals fr the CMA ACE Award must have three cmpnents: (1) identificatin f an imprtant cnsumer prblem r issue, (2) articulatin f practical slutins t the prblem, and (3) strng, cnvincing cmmunicatin f the implicatins f the findings that have immediate usefulness t cnsumers, cnsumer prfessinals, r plicy makers. This award hnrs the legacy f Richard L. D. Mrse, a prminent leader in the cnsumer mvement and Kansas State University prfessr. Knwn as Mr. Truth in Savings, Dr. Mrse established the Cnsumer Mvement Archives (CMA) at Kansas State University Libraries. CMA is the premiere research cllectin dcumenting cnsumer advcacy in the United States. The award is generusly funded by the Mrse Cnsumer Mvement Archives Endwment thrugh the Kansas State University Fundatin. Natinal Fundatin fr Financial Educatin Award (NEFE) This award is spnsred by the NEFE and requires that financial educatin is the cntent fcus. The criteria include that the prpsal demnstrates that it: (1) makes a cntributin t the scientific knwledge f financial educatin, financial behavir, r financial capability; (2) utilizes rigrus methdlgy as recgnized by peers and the discipline; (3) is theretically grunded; (4) addresses a research gap in the discipline; and (5) is an riginal manuscript nt under review by anther publicatin r grup while being cnsidered by ACCI.
