1 ABORIGINAL ECONOMIC PARTNERSHIPS Prgram Grant Applicatin Guidelines Abriginal Ecnmic Partnerships Prgram (AEPP) grant funding supprts Indigenus cmmunities, cmmunity-wned businesses and nt-fr-prfit nn-gvernmental rganizatins t prmte and fster ecnmic develpment and cntribute t imprved scial and ecnmic utcmes fr Indigenus Albertans. Grant funding supprts prjects that: Increase capacity f Indigenus cmmunities t identify and plan fr ecnmic pprtunities and facilitate the use f lcal resurces fr lng term ecnmic grwth. Supprt the establishment f a stable businesses envirnment that is cnducive t: attracting investment in Indigenus-led ecnmic prjects increasing Abriginal emplyment supprting new r scaling existing Indigenus cmmunity wned businesses creating spin-ff business pprtunities, and develping r increasing revenue fr the cmmunity. Result in the develpment f new infrmatin, tls and resurces that enable, enhance and supprt ecnmic pprtunities. Eligibility Indigenus cmmunities, cmmunity-wned businesses Indigenus cmmunity-led rganisatins and nt-fr-prfit nn-gvernmental rganizatins that directly prmte the ecnmic develpment and capacity building f Indigenus Albertans.. All applicants must be lcated r have established peratins in Alberta and be in cmpliance with the terms and cnditins f any previus Indigenus Relatins funding. NOTE: Indigenus entrepreneurs and private businesses are nt eligible t apply directly fr AEPP funding. AEPP prvides funding t Abriginal Financial Institutins and ther business services rganisatins t supprt Indigenus private business and entrepreneurialism. What types f Prjects? The Abriginal Ecnmic Partnerships Prgram has tw funding streams: 1. Ecnmic and Gvernance Capacity: Grant funding t supprt feasibility studies, business plans, market analysis, gvernance framewrks and ther related ecnmic develpment prject sft csts. 2 Business plans and feasibility studies Cmmunity r reginal ecnmic develpment strategies Investment r marketing strategies t attract external investment Leakage studies and pprtunity identificatin exercises Crprate gvernance structuring and plicy develpment Management and Human Resurces capacity develpment 2. Research and Strategic Initiatives: The prgram supprts Indigenus cmmunity-wned businesses and ther rganizatins t help build ecnmic develpment-fcused relatinships and identify pprtunities and slutins t ecnmic develpment challenges. Sample Prjects: Develpment and maintenance f baseline research Market Analysis Research targeted t fill infrmatin gaps n Indigenus ecnmic participatin Develpment f a publically available knwledge resurce that can supprt infrmed decisin-making acrss sectrs Funding Levels AEPP will prvide funding up t a maximum f $100,000 t supprt a particular ecnmic develpment prject. The stacking limit maximum level f funding t a recipient frm all surces (including federal, prvincial/territrial, and/r municipal) fr any ne initiative r prject is 100 per cent f eligible csts. When t apply? Tw Submissin perids fr 2016/2017 fiscal: 1. First call fr submissins will pen - April 18, 2016; clses June 3, Secnd call fr submissins pens in mid-september, 2016 and will clse in early Nvember, 2016 Grant Applicatin Frm Grant applicatins can be dwnladed frm Indigenus.alberta.ca/AEPP Full Applicatin Submissin All Applicants must submit a fully cmpleted applicatin including the fllwing: 1. Grant Applicatin Frm signed and dated by the individual with full legal authrity. 2. Detailed Prpsal: Fr funding requests greater than $25,000, a detailed prpsal must be submitted in additin t the grant applicatin frm and ther supprting dcumentatin. Befre making a frmal request fr mney, a clear descriptin f the prject is essential t develp a well written detailed prpsal. The prpsal shuld describe the imprtance f and need fr the prject as well as utline the applicant s specific plans fr implementing the prject. Prpsal Cntent Guide A. Cver page: shuld include: (1) Name f applicant (2) Lg (3) Cntact persn (4) Address and phne number (5) Date f Incrpratin (6) Table f Cntents and Table f Appendices B. Executive Summary: include: (1) bjective f yur prgram (2) ppulatin served (3) persnnel invlved in executing the prject (4) amunt yu are seeking (5) missin and visin f the prject and (6) accmplishments f the Natin r rganizatin. C. Prblem r Needs Statement: include a detailed descriptin f the prblem that the prpsed prject intends t address. It ffers prf f the need fr the prject and shuld include statistics and ther factual dcumentatin. Describe hw did the prblem arise? D. Prject Objectives: list the expected utcmes, r results, f the prpsed prject. The bjectives are pssible slutins t the stated prblem r need. They shuld be measurable, meaning that they can be cunted (prvided in a number quantitative/cmputable), and achievable. E. Prject Plan: This sectin explains in detail the prject activities and hw, by whm, and when they will be carried ut during the prject. A timeline can be used t illustrate the prgram plan. F. Evaluatin: describes hw the prgress and success f the prject will be measured. Evaluatin strategies will depend n the nature f the prject's bjectives. Versin 1.3(March 2016) 3

4 G. Future Funding: utline plans t btain alternate and additinal funds t cnduct ther aspects f the prject and/r t cntinue the prject after the prpsed grant expires. H. Budget: utline shuld be a realistic estimate f all csts invlved in implementing and perating the prject. Cst estimates shuld be brken dwn int lgical categries, such as prfessinal fees, management csts, meeting csts, etc. A budget nt nly utlines hw the requested funds will be spent, but als hw the mney received frm ther surces will be allcated. I. Appendices: A prpsal shuld be cncise. Appendices prvide the pprtunity t include additinal supprtive infrmatin withut unduly adding t the length f the prpsal. Attachments might include the results f a preliminary needs assessment survey, site drawings, the rganizatin's annual reprt, and staff bigraphies f cmpany authrities. Reprting and Deliverables Grant applicatins apprved fr funding will have reprting and deliverables as a requirement, such as a financial statement, interim activities reprt, final reprt and cpies f any study r research reprt the funding supprted. Deliverables are due 60 days after the end date f the prject. Financial statements require the signature f an authrized persn, verifying the accuracy. Final Reprt Cntent Guide The fllwing utlines the type f infrmatin that culd be useful fr prject reprts submitted t Abriginal Relatins. Please nte that any additinal infrmatin is encuraged since this guide cannt address every aspect f every prject. A. Executive Summary Prvide a shrt summary f the prject, describing the prject highlights. This culd include, but nt be limited t, a brief backgrund and the significance f the prject, key highlights and relevant statistics, why the prject succeeded/did nt succeed, verall feedback. B. Results (1) Objectives attained: Review the bjectives identified in yur prpsal and describe hw they were attained. (2) Activities: Describe the activities f the prject, frm the meetings, and any pst-activities such as netwrking, cmmunicatins. (3) Success stries: Describe the highlights f the activities and success in terms f the prject, partnerships, future impact f the prject, meeting(s) utcmes, plans/reprts prduced. 5 (4) Challenges: Describe sme f the challenges in planning this prject (if any) recruitment, finances, preparedness f participants, rganizatin f the grup/natin, n-site lgistics, etc. (5) Results: Identify immediate and lng-term results. Prvide a summary f the results. Was this a new prject/venture fr the Natin? Was this a market t pursue? C. Budget Were there csts incurred that were nt anticipated in the planning f the prject? Were the funds underutilized in an area and needed mre in anther area? D. Lessns Learned Were the bjectives f the prject met? Hw was the prject evaluated, if at all? Is the cmmunity satisfied with the verall prject? What are the psitive utcmes? Was fllw-up mentined and if s, hw will that be accmplished? Why did the prject succeed r fail? What wuld yu d differently if yu had t d it again? E. Fllw-up: Are there plans t fllw-up? Will this prject lead t a next step fr future planning and imprvements r expansin? F. Appendices: Include any items t reprt t Indigenus Relatins n the prject. (mapping, newsletter, drawings, illustratins, charts) Final Financial Cntent Budget Prpsed: Prvide a cpy f the budget included in yur prpsal r applicatin and the Actual Csts: Outline the actual expenditures fr the prject. Once an applicatin is received the fllwing prcess is implemented: a preliminary assessment will be cnducted by Indigenus Relatins t ensure that each applicatin prvides sufficient infrmatin t undertake a full assessment a preliminary assessment will cnfirm applicant eligibility and suitability with the Abriginal Ecnmic Partnership Prgram additinal infrmatin may be requested if an applicatin is incmplete recmmendatins may be prvided n hw a prpsal culd be imprved t better align with a funding stream Hw will I knw if my applicatin has been accepted?
