1 The Lckwd Fundatin Grant Applicatin Instructins Applicatin Opens January 22, 2018 Applicatins due March 5, 2018 The Bellevue Cllege Fundatin and The Lckwd Fundatin are pleased t annunce the ffering f The Lckwd Fundatin Fund fr BC Faculty Excellence and Innvatin. This grant is pen t faculty members and prvides supprt fr new r nging prjects that prmte innvatin in teaching and/r advance entrepreneurial mdels at the cllege. Typically, individual grants will range frm $2,500 t $10,000. Specific examples f ptentially successful applicatins include: baccalaureate curriculum develpment; innvative implementatin f general educatin requirements; creative wrk defining the next generatin f interdisciplinary mdels; vanguard wrk n ur wrkfrce prgrams; practical methds fr infusing the latest in pedaggical theries int the curriculum; and develpment f new curses that can be marketed t ther schls and institutins and that will appeal t new audiences. Criteria fr Selectin Applicatins are evaluated n the merits identified belw (nt listed in rder f pririty): Clarity f prject gals and feasibility f achieving them Lng term sustainability and value t the cllege Innvatin f instructinal mdels Applicability t the cllege s strategic plan and advancement f the pluralism initiative Prjects shuld result in materials that can be shared easily with clleagues Applicatin Prcedure Dwnlad applicatin frm the Fundatin website and cmplete entire applicatin (cver page, budget page, all essay questins, and signature page). The essay questins and budget shuld nt exceed 5 written pages. Only faculty members are eligible t submit grant requests t the Lckwd Fundatin Fund fr BC Faculty Excellence and Innvatin. Grant applicatins must be signed and dated by the apprpriate divisin Dean and Vice President befre the funding request will be cnsidered. Funding requests are reviewed and determined by the Lckwd Grant Selectin Cmmittee. In sme cases partial funding may be awarded. It is the applicant s respnsibility t determine if additinal mnies can be fund t bridge the gap. The cmpleted and signed applicatin must be received by the Fundatin (A101) by 4:00pm n Mnday, March 5. Send applicatins t fundatin@bellevuecllege.edu r hard cpies with signatures can be delivered r mailed t BC Fundatin, 3000 Landerhlm Circle SE A101, Bellevue WA Grants received after the deadline will nt be given pririty in the review prcess. Recipients are required t submit a prject evaluatin t the Fundatin 60 days after prject cmpletin. Imprtant infrmatin fr all applicants The review cmmittee includes members wh are nt BC emplyees therefre yu shuld spell ut all acrnyms. Funding is nt available fr events that have already taken place prir t the date when funds will be available. Grant funds may nt be used fr salaries. Hwever, grant funds may be used fr stipends, accrding t the cllege s rules n stipends. Please wrk with the HR and Payrll departments t ensure that calculatins fr such persnnel expenses and the benefits are accurate. 2 Grant funds may be used fr travel, but recipient must still fllw state rules regarding travel, htels, airfare, etc. D nt use links t websites r ther nline infrmatin as a substitute fr articulating yur need r what will be funded. Requests fr curriculum develpment must demnstrate that the curse has been fully vetted, signed ff by a directr r dean, and includes an apprval by the curriculum cmmittee. All publicly circulated infrmatin assciated with Fundatin-funded prjects must cntain the phrase made pssible by a grant frm The Lckwd Fundatin Fund fr BC Faculty Excellence and Innvatin and the Bellevue Cllege Fundatin. Award recipients must submit a final reprt t the Fundatin in rder t be eligible fr future grants. Award recipients may be asked t present at a Fundatin meeting r event. In rder t be eligible in this rund, the requestr must have submitted a brief evaluatin fr any grants previusly received. The BC Fundatin will publish reprts annually fr review by the public and the Lckwd Fundatin. Grant applicatins becme the prperty f the BC Fundatin. Awards will be established as a new, temprary cllege budget in accrdance with state guidelines. All expenses will be charged t that budget as they are incurred. 3 APPLICATION TIPS Brief Prject Descriptin Please 2-4 sentences nly! This shuld briefly answer the questin what is being purchased, the purpse f the purchase, the purpse f the prject, and wh benefits. Number f peple served (Students, Cmmunity, and/r Emplyees) this number is very imprtant as we use this t estimate the cst/benefit rati and t make impact statements which help us raise mre mney fr prgrams such as the Lckwd Grant prgram. Prject budget Ttal prject budget means TOTAL prject budget. Are yu getting funds frm ther surces, will yu apprach ther surces? Think abut yur prject budget in discreet parts is there a $1000 piece that a Lckwd Grant might be able t fund if they aren t able t prvide the entire amunt being requested? Present different funding level ptins. Fr $ the Fundatin wuld fund the entire prject which impacts X students Fr $ the Fundatin wuld fund a scaled back prject which impacts X-Y students Fr $ the Fundatin wuld fund this piece f a larger prject and we wuld likely get additinal funding frm. The cmmittee likes t tuch as many prjects as pssible prviding partial funding ptins may make yur applicatin mre successful. Recgnitin pprtunities This is imprtant again, the mre we are able t prmte that Lckwd Grants fund A, B & C, the mre mney we can raise and return t yu in the frm f Lckwd Grants. Budget there are a number f rules (See the Imprtant Infrmatin sectin f the Instructins and als ready the additinal inf fund n the Applicatin s Budget Page. Essay Questins Answer all the questins! Answer the questin what exactly will be purchased. Measures f success give us quantitative measures and prvide infrmatin abut hw thse measurements will be btained (survey, number f students achieving X GPA, tickets sld). Cntributin t greater cmmunity this is the BC Cmmunity and als the Bellevue Cmmunity. Des yur prject supprt at risk student ppulatins? Answer this questin. Other funding? This helps us understand whether yu are asking t fill a small gap in funding fr a much larger prject. Als can help us identify partnership pprtunities, recgnitin pprtunities, etc. Be sure t answer the partial funding questins this is very imprtant and shuld als be supprted by alternative budgets submitted.
