YMC is made up f tw bards, ne meets in Santa Maria and the ther in Santa Barbara. Bth YMC bards are led by tw yuth facilitatrs wh were previus YMC bard members. Each YMC bard has $15,000 t grant t yuth-led prjects impacting yung peple in Santa Barbara Cunty. They create and cnduct a grant cycle frm start t finish and then share what they have learned as grant-makers and philanthrpists with their cmmunities. Since 2008, YMC has awarded $215,490 t 116 yuth-led prjects thrughut Santa Barbara Cunty. Apply t get up t $3,000 fr yur yuth-led prject! 2 Guidelines & Instructins Thank yu fr yur interest in a grant frm Yuth Making Change. Fr yur prject t be cnsidered by the bard yur prject must meet the BASIC requirements. Thse basic requirements are utlined belw alng with ther things that wuld give yur prject a much better chance f getting funding, thugh it is nt a guarantee. YMC gives preference t prjects that address the rt causes f scial, ecnmic, envirnmental and plitical prblems. PROJECT REQUIREMENTS: Be yuth-driven (age 12 24). Yuth are leaders in all aspects f the prject, including writing this grant applicatin; Teens in the cmmunity must benefit frm yur prject, nt just the planning team; Attempt t fix a prblem affecting yuth by prviding a slutin; Be lcated in Santa Barbara Cunty; Have a spnsring rganizatin, such as a schl r cmmunity grup. Prjects must als d ne f the fllwing: Wrk against discriminatin based n race, sex/gender, age, religin, ecnmic status, sexual rientatin, physical/mental ability, ethnicity, language spken r immigratin status. Advcate fr the rights f wrkers Prmte self-determinatin in lw incme and disenfranchised cmmunities Wrk n imprving the envirnment, especially rganize a cnstituency usually withut access t decisin-makers. Operate in demcratic manner, respnsive t and directed by the cnstituency being served. Requirements are available n page t f the applicatin. Identify yur grup s Fiscal Spnsr. If yu receive a grant, we need t make the grant check ut t an rganized grup with a grup bank accunt. We cannt make grant checks ut t individuals. If yu are a schl grup, the schl is usually yur fiscal spnsr. If yur grup already has a grup bank accunt AND includes members that are 18 r lder, yu d NOT need a separate fiscal spnsr. Cmplete the fllwing applicatin in BLACK INK r typed in 12pt fnt. Answer all f the essay questins in fur single-sided pages r less. Cpies in WORD frmat are available n ur website r by visiting ne f ur ffices. Cmplete the budget wrksheet. The bard lks clsely at what the mney will be used fr s make sure all f the numbers add up and that yur request is fr smething that fits the budget guidelines. Get the necessary riginal signatures frm a representative f yur yuth-led grup (can be under 18 years ld) and anther frm a representative f yur fiscal spnsr (must be 18 years ld r lder). If yur grup des nt need an additinal fiscal spnsr, the secnd signature must be frm a grup member wh is 18 years r lder. Submit ONE (1) single-sided, riginal applicatin with attachments. The applicatin must be turned in t ne f ur ffices by Friday, Octber 19, 2018 n later than 5:00 p.m. LATE APPLICATIONS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Required Attachments 1. List f all key yuth AND adult leaders (alng with rle/title and age) invlved with yur prject. This list shuld include all yuth and adults leading the prject and any adult allies.
