1 NATIONWIDE BUILDING SOCIETY COMMUNITY GRANTS Natinwide Building Sciety was funded t help peple int hmes f their wn. This Cmmunity Grants prgramme supprts lcal husing prjects in yur area, s even mre peple can have a place fit t call hme. Hw des it wrk? Husing prjects and charities can apply fr grants t help make a change in their lcal areas. The applicatins will be reviewed and shrtlisted by a reginal Cmmunity Bard, made up f Natinwide members, clleagues and lcal husing charities. The shrtlist will then be put t Natinwide members t vte n in that regin. The idea is that we ll nt just be able t give the winning prjects a grant, but als cmmunity supprt. Organisatins are invited t apply fr: Grants f between 10,000 and 25,000 fr bids frm singular rganisatins; and Grants f between 10,000 and 50,000 fr bids frm partnerships and cnsrtia. Key bjectives With these grants, we aim t fund prjects that prvide husing services t peple in need and supprt the mst vulnerable. Successful prjects must supprt ne f the three bjectives listed belw: Preventing peple frm being hmeless, this culd be by imprving physical, emtinal r scial cnditins. Fr example, develping new accmmdatin fr thse wh are currently hmeless. Helping peple int a hme, this culd be by helping peple int supprted accmmdatin r stabilising rental accmmdatin. Fr example, helping peple t access bnd schemes. Supprting peple t remain in their hme, this culd be by supprting peple s independent living within their current hme. Fr example, ffering adaptatins t supprt lder peple r peple with disabilities t live at hme and cntinue t be active. Please refer t appendix 1 fr mre examples f the types f prjects we are lking t supprt. Within the key bjectives abve we are keen t supprt the creatin/evaluatin/research f innvative ideas that challenge the existing husing mdel. We are lking t fund sustainable prjects and encurage applicatins frm rganisatins that:

2 Can draw in match funding; Are prviding lng-term slutins t the peple they are helping; Prvide skills-building fr their staff and vlunteers; Have strategic lcal partnerships and netwrks in place. Basic eligibility This fund is pen t Registered UK Charities nly. Cnsrtia and Partnerships are encuraged. Within a partnership/cnsrtia there shuld be a lead rganisatin that makes the bid. The lead rganisatin must be a Registered UK Charity but can partner with: statutry rganisatins, husing assciatins, Cmpanies limited by guarantee with charitable bjectives, Cmmunity Interest Cmpanies, cnstituted cmmunity r vluntary sectr grups. As a building sciety, we need t ensure we take all necessary steps t prevent Financial Crime. In rder t d this, we will instruct ur third-party payments prvider t run due diligence checks n successful rganisatins befre any payments can be made. Ineligibility This fund is nt pen t: Prjects run by rganisatins which are nt UK registered charities; Prjects f a duratin shrter than ne year r lnger than tw years; Individuals r individual spnsrship; Activities cnnected t a plitical party; Activities generating private prfit; Organisatins perating utside the gegraphical bundaries f the fund; and Faith grups are welcme t apply but we d nt fund religius activities. Pririties Fr the shrtlisting prcess we will priritise rganisatins that: Are embedded in the lcal cmmunity that can evidence knwledge f lcal issues and have a netwrk f lcal cnnectins; Illustrate a clear link t Natinwide s key bjectives and can demnstrate the impact their prject will have n cmmunities; Plan t use riginal and creative appraches t address lcal need; Have rbust plans t measure and reprt n the difference the grant will make; Can demnstrate sustainability beynd the life f the grant; Have the ptential t scale up in new areas. What we will fund Cre csts - Budget fr running and facility csts, ffice equipment, supplies, any travel and accmmdatin, printing etc 1. 1 N mre than 20% f the awarded grant shuld be spent n cre csts.

3 Staff csts - Budget fr staffing, including full-time staff, part time staff and ther related expenses, e.g. translatin 2. All staff csts must be paid at least the Real Living Wage determined by the Living Wage Fundatin - Develpment and capacity building csts Budget t help build capacity and sustainability f rganisatin e.g. staff/vlunteer training, external cnsultancy fees. Vlunteer csts - Budget fr reimbursements f expenses, e.g. telephne calls, travel and meals. Activity csts - Budget fr resurces t facilitate a prject / activity that fall utside capital, vlunteer r staffing csts, e.g. catering, insurance. Small-scale capital csts - Budget fr small-scale set up csts including ne-ff expenses fr equipment r fixed assets that may have use r benefit beynd the life f the grant / ne financial year, such as cmputer hardware. This can als include perishable capital, which are items that are required fr the delivery f a prject, such as paint, paintbrushes and gardening equipment. Refurbishment csts will be cnsidered where they are essential t the successful delivery f the prject. What we wn t fund Majr / Large-scale capital csts - Vehicles, land, prperty, building wrks 3. Retrspective csts - Reimbursement fr csts already incurred. Over 25% f yur annual incme. Supprting dcuments We will ask fr the fllwing supprting dcuments t be upladed with yur applicatin: A cpy f yur mst recent annual accunts. Cpies f yur safeguarding (if yu will be wrking with children r vulnerable adults) and equal pprtunities plicies. A high-reslutin versin f yur rganisatin's lg and high-reslutin phts that represent yur rganisatin s wrk. These shuld be 2-5MB in size and shuld be unprcessed clur images, i.e. n black & white images. If yu have any cncerns abut the infrmatin in yur applicatin being used publicly, please ensure yu make us aware by cntacting yur lcal Cmmunity Fundatin. Assessment Prcess The fllwing prcess will be used t assess the applicatins and award grants: All applicatins must be made by cmpleting the applicatin frm by the date specified. Lcal Cmmunity Fundatins will shrtlist applicatins, assessing against the eligibility criteria and pririties f the prgramme. 2 Staff csts will nt be funded fr statutry rganisatins, husing assciatins r cnstituted cmmunity and vluntary sectr rganisatins, that are applying in partnership with a cmmunity grup. 3 If yu require large-scale capital csts fr yur prject, please cnsider match funding, as nted in the grants sectin.

4 A reginal Cmmunity Bard will review the shrtlisted applicatins and decide which prjects t put frward fr Natinwide members t vte n thrugh Natinwide s website. The Cmmunity Bard will be made up f Natinwide clleagues, members, lcal husing charities and experts n a vlunteer basis and supprted by representatives frm lcal Cmmunity Fundatins. If successfully shrtlisted, infrmatin frm yur applicatin will be used t prmte yur applicatin externally n prmtinal materials and n scial media (this includes images, lg and a synpsis f yur grant). Natinwide members vted t channel 1% f pre-tax prfits int gd causes, fr that reasn Natinwide members will have the pprtunity t vte n which shrtlisted prjects they want t supprt. Each prject will be prmted externally - nline and in lcal Natinwide branches. Yu will be ntified f the results f the public vte by the date specified. At each stage f the prcess the decisins f the lcal Cmmunity Fundatins, the Cmmunity Bard and the results f the member vte are final. Hw we use persnal data prvided By cmpleting this applicatin frm, UK Cmmunity Fundatins and its netwrk partners will use the persnal data abut yu and ther individuals named in yur applicatin t assess and administer a grant applicatin fr Natinwide s Cmmunity Grant prgramme. Persnal data abut yur management team will als be used fr identificatin, debt tracing and the preventin f mney laundering. T supprt with this, searches (e.g. t verify yur identity) may be made with third parties, including publicly available surces. If yur applicatin is successful, yur details may als be used t cntact yu t gain yur thughts n the effectiveness and impact f the prgramme. When necessary, persnal data cllected thrugh the applicatin prcess may be shared with the reginal Cmmunity Bard, Natinwide Building Sciety, The Natinwide Fundatin and with ther third parties where the law permits r requires it. Any phtgraphs and cmmentary prvided t supprt yur applicatin may include persnal data relating t individuals supprted by yur rganisatin. These phts, lgs and details may be used in prmtinal material created in relatin t yur applicatin and may be shared with Natinwide members and via Natinwide Building Sciety, UK Cmmunity Fundatins and its netwrk partners websites and literature. We will nly use yur infrmatin where we have a legal basis t d s, fr example, t carry ut ur legitimate business interests t manage and prmte ur Cmmunity Grants r t meet ur legal r cntractual bligatins. By prviding any persnal data abut anther persn yu are cnfirming that they understand hw their data may be used and shared. Yu have certain rights when it cmes t yur persnal infrmatin. This includes rights t access and crrect yur infrmatin, and t erase, transfer, bject t, restrict r take away cnsent arund hw we use yur infrmatin. 5 Appendix 1 - Sme examples f what we are lking fr Preventing peple frm being hmeless Matching prjects t link up thse with extra space in their hme with thse in need f a hme r at risk f hmelessness. Supprting peple t access benefits fr example a hspital discharge service which helps peple t avid hmelessness by helping them t access benefits t keep their hmes during hspital stays and by ensuring they ve gt smewhere suitable t g t when discharged. Prjects t supprt hmeless r vulnerably hused peple t access accmmdatin: Supprt with applying t lcal authrities fr hmelessness supprt r tenancy caching t help access the private rented sectr. Prjects t develp new accmmdatin fr thse wh are currently hmeless. This culd include cntributins t refurbishment prjects as part f a wider piece f wrk with hmeless r vulnerably hused peple. Helping peple int a hme Schemes which supprt peple t vercme barriers t accessing the private rented sectr: This culd include bnd schemes which ffer interest free r lw cst lans t cver depsits r rent in advance. Prjects t supprt peple wh have t mve quickly (e.g. peple fleeing dmestic vilence) t furnish r redecrate a hme. This culd be prjects t supprt peple with DIY r decrating r prjects t surce furniture fr thse wh may nt be able t affrd t buy it. Targeted prjects t supprt peple wh may need an extra helping hand t find hmes in the private rented sectr. Fr example prjects culd supprt yung peple leaving care, peple leaving prisn, r peple with multiple and cmplex needs wh are mving n frm supprted accmmdatin. Supprting peple t remain in their hme: Practical prjects t supprt peple t live independently: This culd include funding a handyman t train peple t carry ut minr repairs and maintenance in their hme. Offering adaptatins t supprt lder peple r peple with disabilities t live at hme and cntinue t be active. Directly funding a handyman t carry ut repairs r creating repair funds t help peple n lw incmes t carry ut minr repairs and maintenance in their hmes. Educatin prjects t teach peple abut renting in the private rented sectr:

6 Prjects which expand the reach f advice services by ffering advice in new places such as shpping centres, supermarkets r building scieties. Prjects which use new channels t train key target grups such as yung peple, students r peple with multiple and cmplex needs. Prjects targeted at landlrds t raise awareness f hw they can make it easier fr certain vulnerable grups t manage a hme (and perhaps make them mre willing t rent t these grups e.g. peple n benefits). Buddying prjects t supprt peple t manage their hme these culd be peer mentring prjects r intergeneratinal prjects. Debt advice and supprt prjects t help thse at risk f rent r mrtgage arrears t keep their hmes.
