Tday we are faced with increased demands fr ur specially trained service dgs as the number f peple returning frm war with disabilities grws. Our rganizatin receives many requests frm clubs, rganizatins and individuals wh express interest in raising funds t benefit. As yu can imagine, these requests generate a tremendus amunt f dnatins and publicity each year and it is ur respnsibility t review the rganizatin r club as well as evaluate the type f event that will benefit Nrthwest Battle Buddies. When cnsidering a fundraising activity t benefit Utilize ur lgs wisely n any prduced cllateral we want t ensure ur names are branded in prper fashin (see belw fr mre details) is always in Stencil STD fnt. External Third - Party events are nt crdinated by r the respnsibility f Nrthwest Battle Buddies. Be sure nt t suggest that spnsrs the event. As we are nt in a psitin t supervise the event, we cannt take respnsibility r assume liability fr the event. Any expenses incurred thrugh Third-Party events are the sle respnsibility f the individuals cntracting t raise funds fr dnatin f gds and services. cannt be liable r respnsible fr any csts r expenses in cnnectin with the event. When rganizing a Third-Party fundraising event where expenses will be incurred, yu will want t keep csts t a minimum, ensuring a greater percent f dllars raised will g t the missin f ur rganizatin. Please cnsider the fllwing: Try t reduce event csts by getting gds dnated. Use the fllwing wrding when getting gds dnated. As XYZ grup we are hsting an event in which the net prceed r percent f net prceeds will be dnated t It is imprtant t make sure the dnr is aware that the event is nt spnsred but that the rganizatin(s) is the recipient f the raised funds. 2 If yu have t purchase the gds, cnsider the fllwing: Whether the event is ging t generate cash, which can be used t ff-set csts fr purchased gds r event expenses. Reimbursement frm fr the purchase f gds used fr Third-Party events is nt permitted. Third-Party events may nt purchase gds under Nrthwest Battle Buddies name. N bank accunts can be pened under. If yur Third-Party event is cnducted and prmted t benefit, all prceeds (unless split with anther nn-prfit) after reimbursement f ut-f-pcket expenses, must g t the rganizatin. The spnsr r any individuals invlved with the event may nt take any fees, cmmissins r salary. Any checks received must represent an utright dnatin and cannt be used as an exchange fr prduct. We will prvide receipts fr these dnatins. Third-Party events are nt allwed t use sales tax-exempt r federal emplyer identificatin numbers when directly purchasing materials r supplies frm suppliers/vendrs. Bth State and Federal tax laws specify that grups raising funds independently will be prhibited frm claiming exemptin frm State and any ther applicable taxes n such purchases. The use f the name and/r lg is nly allwed thrugh prir apprval by the rganizatin s staff persn. Apprpriate wrding fr any prmtin is as fllws: The net prceeds (r percent f net prceeds) frm (event name) will be dnated t Nrthwest Battle Buddies. If yu are deducting expenses befre remitting net prceeds t, yu may nt state r imply t yur dnrs that any funds given t yu are tax-deductible and yu may nt use the wrd dnatin because this implies that they are tax-deductible. If yu are selling gds r services (e.g., t-shirts r admittance t an event), yu may nt state r imply that the funds paid are fully tax-deductible. If the amunt paid is $75 r mre, yu must disclse the prtin f the dnatin that is nn-deductible, because it is attributable t the value f the gds r services received. This is an IRS rule. The amunts paid t purchase raffle tickets are nt tax deductible. is a public charity that cannt supprt r ppse plitical candidates r parties. Hwever, yu shuld emphasize t the legislatr in writing that Nrthwest Battle Buddies is a nn-prfit, charitable rganizatins that may nt engage in plitical activity and request that they refrain frm ding any campaigning at the event. Any invlvement f plitical figures shuld be discussed with a staff persn. reserves the right t decline uses f its name as beneficiary f yur Third-Party prject at will. Additinally, reserves the right t terminate relatinship with yur business/rganizatin and/r yu at will. requests that Third-Party events carefully cnsider their fund raising effrts. During the planning f any event, ask these questins: Is it ethical? Is it ffensive t any grup? What is the financial risk/utcme? Cmplete the attached Third-Party event prpsal frm. Attach additinal infrmatin as needed t the prpsal. staff and/r vlunteer leadership will evaluate the prpsal. Yu will be ntified in writing if the prpsal has been apprved r declined.
