1 ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP AND CLIMATE CHANGE GROUP PROGRAM APPLICATION PROPOSAL GUIDE Prject selectin criteria The fllwing utlines a list f brad criteria that will be taken int cnsideratin during the selectin f eligible prjects. These criteria, as well as their relative weighting, are subject t change and shuld nly be cnsidered guidance t applicants. PROJECT GOALS AND BENEFITS Primary gals and benefits Climate Change and Greenhuse Gas Mitigatin Degree the prject reduces the ptential severity f climate change impacts and greenhuse gases frm the agricultural industry. This includes sil quality as it relates t sequestratin f carbn and its links t climate change and agricultural greenhuse gas mitigatin. Secndary gals and benefits Climate Change Adaptatin Imprvements Degree the prject equips the agricultural industry t adapt t the impacts f climate change Water Quality Degree the prject equips the agricultural industry t reduce the impact n water quality Sil Quality Degree the prject equips the agricultural industry t reduce the impact n sil quality utside f direct climate change impacts Tertiary Bidiversity Imprvements Degree the prject equips the agricultural industry t reduce the impact n bidiversity Prtectin f species at risk Imprving bidiversity Imprving cnditins fr fish and wildlife Imprved habitat Air Quality Degree the prject equips the agricultural industry t reduce the impact n air quality

Prjects that have a clear relevance t current r emerging agriculture issues and a direct cnnectin between activities and measurable utcmes. Invlvement/Supprt f Sustainability Initiatives Prjects that directly r indirectly supprt agricultural sustainability initiatives. Reach/Scale f Effrt Prjects that have an impact reginally r prvincially and demgraphically (i.e. cmmdity/cmmdities) and culd be presented t a wider audience. Cllabratin and Partnership Ideally, prpsed prjects will invlve partnerships r cllabratin with multiple rganizatins/grups Lngevity, Sustainability and Maintenance Prpsed prjects will ideally have a plan in place fr nging updates r maintenance f the deliverables t ensure cntinued relevance after the prject term. This plan shuld cnstitute minimal expense and be funded frm NGO surces. The cmplete applicatin must include: A cmpleted applicatin frm A cmpleted applicatin prpsal A cmpleted budget sheet The prpsal shuld: Be clear and cncise Be submitted in Micrsft Wrd Nt exceed 10 pages in length (excluding letters f supprt and budget) Include the fllwing criteria Page 2 v. 3 A cmplete applicatin shuld include the fllwing: 1. Prject summary that includes: a. Descriptin f current situatin and hw the prject will seek t impact this situatin and imprve the agricultural industry b. Explain if this prject is new/innvative, r an enhancement r additin t an existing prject 2. Ratinale as t why the prject is imprtant in terms f envirnmental and/r climate change/ghg issues a. Explain hw the extensin and/r data cllectin and/r applied research activities assciated with the verall prject will yield imprvements in areas f climate change/ghg emissins and envirnmental cncern 3. Infrmatin and research delivered thrugh this prgram must be science-based and frm reputable surces. A list f surces will be required as part f the Final Reprt, shuld yur applicatin be apprved. 4. Target audience and scpe: a. Identify the target audience(s) fr this wrk. If multiple audiences will be affected at different stages f the prject, make this knwn. b. Identify any reginal targeting f yur target audience(s) (e.g. watershed level, cunty level, prvincial, etc.) c. Identify why this prject is relevant t the target audience(s) 5. Prject specifics including: a. Prject Gals i. Gals shuld be SMART: 1. Specific, Measureable, Attainable, Realistic, Timely b. Prject Strategies (clearly linked t prject gals) c. Detailed descriptin f prject activities. A detailed descriptin will include: i. Wh will be respnsible fr each activity (individual r rganizatin) ii. Timelines iii. Clear links t prject gals and strategies d. Detailed descriptin f hw yu will measure the perfrmance f yur prject. Please cnsider hw yur activities will cntribute t perfrmance measures f the prject. Clear perfrmance measurements fr each majr activity within a prject will imprve the quality f an applicatin. e. Indicate any current r anticipated direct r indirect cnnectins with sustainability initiatives r schemes supprted by the agricultural industry b. Briefly describe hw the prject will impact the initiative 8. Extensin f prject results a. Include a plan/prcess fr extending the results f yur prject t the target audience(s) upn the cmpletin f yur prject. A summary f frmal dcuments such as cmmunicatins plans and extensin plans may be included within an applicatin when apprpriate. b.
