T d this, yu need t successfully cmplete what is nw knwn as a summative assessment, r final examinatin. On passing all the final examinatins fr yur curse, yu will be awarded a certificate r diplma that will benefit yu in the advancement f yur career. We have cmpiled this Infrmatin Sheet t give yu an verview f the Clleges examinatin prcess. Please read thrugh this dcument carefully and methdically. It cntains imprtant infrmatin cncerning the examinatins that yu will write this year. Fr enquiries cntact a Student Advisr, n the share call number Examinatin dates The examinatin sessins are held twice a year: The mid-year sessin is held in May/June (the May/June exams). The year-end sessin is held in Octber/Nvember (the Octber/Nvember exams). Examinatin registratin respnsibilities It is yur respnsibility t ensure that yu register t write yur examinatins n time and accrding t the crrect prcedure. If yu fail t register prperly, yu will nt be allwed t write yur examinatins. NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED.

2 THE EXAMINATION ENTRY PROCESS EXPLAINED Request an Examinatin Entry Frm Yu can request an Examinatin Entry Applicatin Frm frm a Student Advisr please call Alternatively, yu can visit the Cllege's website, and btain the necessary frm there. Returning yur entry t the Cllege Yu must then cmplete and return yur Examinatin Entry Applicatin Frm t the Cllege. yur cmpleted frm t the Summative Assessment department t examregistratins@icg.edu.za r fax number /98 r It is yur respnsibility t ensure that yur Examinatin Entry Applicatin Frm reaches the Cllege n r befre the clsing date. Yu must als pay the standard 2010 examinatin fees f R per subject. Please attach prf f payment with yur Examinatin Entry Applicatin Frm. N late entries will be accepted. Please ensure that yu cmplete yur entry frm neatly and legibly. Cnfirmatin f examinatin registratin An Examinatin Entry Cnfirmatin Letter will be psted r ed t yu abut three t fur weeks befre the start f the examinatin sessin. The Cllege assumes delivery f this letter within seven days (ten days fr addresses utside the cuntry). Yur examinatin registratin (entry) is nt cnfirmed unless yu have received yur Examinatin Entry Cnfirmatin Letter. This is the nly fficial cnfirmatin f yur examinatin entry details. Yu will nt be allwed t write an examinatin if yu d nt have yur Examinatin Entry Cnfirmatin Letter with yu. It is yur respnsibility t infrm the Cllege if yu d nt receive yur Examinatin Entry Cnfirmatin Letter. D nt assume that sending in yur Examinatin Entry Applicatin Frm will autmatically result in yur applicatin being accepted and yu being registered fr an examinatin.

3 Ensure that all yur examinatin cnfirmatin details, including dates, subject registratin and venue selectins, are crrect n yur Examinatin Entry Cnfirmatin Letter. Please nte, the Cllege reserves the right t change venues due t peratinal requirements. D nt assume that the same venue will be used in cnsecutive examinatin sessins. Yu must be sure abut where, when and at what time yu will be writing each f yur examinatins, and abut what yu need t take with yu. Ntify the Cllege immediately if there are any prblems r if yu have a timetable clash. Cancellatins and amendments The deadline fr amending, cancelling r pstpning yur registratin fr an examinatin is 14 days after the final examinatin entry clsing date. If yu cancel befre this deadline, yur examinatin fees will be reversed r refunded n request. We suggest that, if yu are still within yur tuitin cntract perid and yu wish t pstpne yur examinatin t a later date, yu carry yur examinatin fees frward t that sessin. If the sessin is during the next calendar year, yu will need t pay any increase in fees. Remember that, in all instances, yu are required t re-apply befre the next final examinatin entry clsing date. Yur examinatin applicatin r registratin is nt autmatically carried frward t anther examinatin sessin. Writing an examinatin Yu may write an examinatin nly if yu have received yur Examinatin Entry Cnfirmatin Letter frm the Cllege. This cnfirms that yu have been registered t write an examinatin at a specific venue. Yu may write an examinatin nly at the time, date and venue shwn n yur Examinatin Entry Cnfirmatin Letter. Any variatin t that cnfirmatin must be in writing frm the Cllege infrming yu f an alternative. Study the details in yur Examinatin Entry Cnfirmatin Letter t ensure that yu knw when and where yu are writing and what yu need t take with yu t an examinatin. We suggest that yu visit the lcatin f yur examinatin venue a few days befre yu are due t write yur examinatin s that yu knw where the venue is, hw t get there and hw lng it will take t get there.

4 Examinatin results Subject t yur accunt being in gd rder (has a current status), yur results will be psted t yu. Yu can als cntact the Cllege after the results have been published t btain yur results telephnically. Please refer t the infrmatin dcument abut imprtant dates fr exam result release dates. Please d nt cntact the Cllege fr yur results befre these dates. Individual results will nt be released early fr any reasn. Yur results will nt be released if yur accunt is nt in rder. Hwever, nce yu have settled yur accunt, yu can request that yur examinatin results be psted t yu. If yu d nt receive yur examinatin results, please cntact a Student Advisr n the share call number Yur diplma Once we have cnfirmed that yu have cmpleted yur curse and that yur accunt is in rder, yur diplma will be frwarded t yu by registered pst. Fllwing the examinatins, yu can expect yur r diplma t be issued within six t eight weeks after the exam results have been published. Please nte that the Cllege will nt issue yur certificate r diplma if yur accunt is nt paid. If yu d nt receive yur diplma, please cntact a Student Advisr n the share call number, Please ensure that yu prvide the Cllege with yur identity number, current pstal address and cntact details. Duratin f examinatins Mst examinatins are three hurs in duratin. Hwever, sme examinatins fur hurs in duratin. Please cnsult the List f Examinable Subjects fr 2010 fr the duratin f the examinatins fr subjects yu want t write. Yu will find this infrmatin n the Cllege website, The duratin f an examinatin is als indicated n the Exam Venue Cnfirmatin Letter yu will receive and shwn n the frnt cver f the examinatin questin paper. All examinatins must be written within the time allcated t the examinatin unless yu have received written cnfirmatin f an alternative special arrangement.

5 Examinatin utside f Suth Africa If yu live utside Suth Africa r in remte areas within the Republic, we strngly recmmend that yu supply the Cllege with bth a reliable and easily accessible fax number and an address. This will enable yu t receive infrmatin abut registratin and results withut delay. We als encurage yu t stay in regular cntact with the Cllege t btain up t date infrmatin regarding examinatins and t stay abreast f any changes. Yu d nt have t return t Suth Africa t write yur examinatins. Instead, yu can make use f ur private invigilatin ptin t write examinatins. Please refer t infrmatin belw. Private invigilatin The Cllege grants requests fr private invigilatin nly in highly exceptinal circumstances. If yu live mre than 150 km frm the clsest examinatin venue, yu may request private invigilatin. Students, wh are incarcerated, may als request private invigilatin. Any ther requests fr private invigilatin will be cnsidered n merit. Please cmplete the Private Invigilatin frm and submit it t the Examinatins department with yur Exam Entry Frm and an Affidavit t state yur reasns fr requesting private invigilatin. Timetable T assist yu with yur planning, prvisinal timetables will be made available n early in the year (usually arund January/February) n the Cllege s website. Yu can als request infrmatin frm the Cllege by cntacting us n , All timetables are prvisinal and subject t change withut ntice. Please nte, changes cannt be made t the timetable t accmmdate students individual requests fr alternative dates.

6 Subject clashes If yu find that yu are due t write tw exams n the same day at the same time, yu must cntact the Cllege as sn as pssible. Where clashes ccur acrss curses r study prgrammes, special arrangements will nt be cnsidered, and yu will need t write ne r mre f these examinatins during a later examinatin sessin. It is therefre imprtant that yu plan yur studies carefully and enrll fr the examinatins n a cntinuus basis within yur curse perid. Remember that timetable clashes must be brught t the attentin f the Cllege immediately. The earlier yu ntify the Cllege f any clashes, the mre likely it is that we can make alternative arrangements. Timetable clashes will nt be cnsidered if they are reprted mre than 14 days after the final examinatin entry clsing date. Venues and areas The Cllege has venues acrss Suthern Africa where examinatins are hsted. Please cnsult the list f examinatin areas in the Exam Entry Frm. Examinatin areas d nt specify an address, as they simply help us t plan fr the examinatins. Areas are listed n yur Examinatin Entry frm. Examinatin venues (r centres) are specific. Venues are indicated n yur Examinatin Entry Cnfirmatin Letter, tgether with a physical street address. The examinatin venue is the actual place r centre where yu will write yur examinatins. D nt assume that yu will write all yur examinatins at the same venue. The Cllege reserves the right t change venues due t peratinal reasns. Yur cnfirmed bking will appear n yur Examinatin Entry Cnfirmatin Letter. Yu may nly write yur examinatin at the venue where yu have been bked t write. In ther wrds, yu must write yur exam at the venue shwn n yur Examinatin Entry Cnfirmatin Letter. Hwever, if yur circumstances have changed, the Cllege will endeavur t assist yu in a change f exam venue, prvided yur request is within 14 days f the exam clsing date.

7 Special arrangements and special cnsideratin Yu may apply fr special cnsideratin based n medical, cmpassinate r religius grunds if yu believe that illness, disability thrugh accident and/r ther special circumstances will have an adverse effect n yur perfrmance in the examinatin. Clearly mark yur applicatin 'fr the attentin f the Examinatin Department'. Please ensure that yu fax yur relevant dcumentatin t /8 r Yur applicatin fr special cnsideratin must be supprted by a medical reprt r ther apprpriate evidence. Yu must apply fr special cnsideratin, n the apprpriate frm, n later than three weeks befre the examinatin. Late submissins, unless substantiated by medical reprt/s, will nt be accepted. Impairments that may be cnsidered fr special cnsideratin include: hearing impairment; reading prblems; spelling prblems; and speech disrders. Cncessins that may be granted include the fllwing: large print; a tape-recrded questin paper; the use f a cmputer (r typewriter) t answer a questin paper; and additinal time. Yu will receive written cnfirmatin f the result f yur request in due curse.

8 General infrmatin The pass mark fr all written (paper-based) examinatins is 50%, unless therwise stated n the examinatin paper. Yu must bring yur Examinatin Entry Cnfirmatin Letter and prf f yur identity (either yur ID bk r yur passprt). Yu will nt be allwed t write an exam unless yu have the cnfirmatin letter and prf f identity. If yu are unable t prduce yur identity dcument r passprt, please cntact a Student Advisr n the share call number t agree n valid identificatin. On arrival at the examinatin venue, yu must sign the attendance register. Yu must als prvide yur riginal fficial prf f identity and yur Examinatin Entry Cnfirmatin Letter and Schedule t the fficial invigilatr at the examinatin. Yu must have the fllwing statinery with yu fr each examinatin: a pen, ruler, pencil, eraser and any additinal requirements, which will be specified in yur Examinatin Cnfirmatin Letter and Schedule; r in yur study material Please check the subject f yur examinatin. Cllege bank accunt Yu may pay yur examinatin entry fee directly r via Internet banking int the Cllege accunt at any First Natinal Bank. Please be sure t qute yur student number as reference.
