3 LEAVE Each full-time emplyee is credited 12 days f leave annually. Unused days f leave carry ver year t year, accumulating t a maximum f 180 days. Persnal leave (SmartFindExpress) 3 days available Cannt be taken during the first and last 5 days f the year, the day befre r after Thanksgiving, winter, mid-winter, and spring breaks Must be requested at least 3 days prir t the leave date On a given day, there is n limit t the number f peple wh can request leave (limit f 20 may be put in place if needed.) PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Additinal salary all certificated staff can earn this year regardless f FTE. This pay is nt included n the salary schedule because yu d nt autmatically receive the pay. Paid Prfessinal Days (N students at all levels): Sixty (60) hurs f per diem pay can be earned fr participatin in the ptinal Prfessinal Days belw. These are lcally bargained paid per diem days. Individuals nly earn the designated pay fr signing in and participating in the activities utlined belw. Fr full eight (8) hur Prfessinal Days, time may be wrked in fur (4) r (8) hur segments nly. Except where indicated, the district decides the scpe f the activities fr any given day. Except where specified, ther chices are nt an ptin if yu want t receive pay fr these days. Since ne 8 hur day equals apprximately 0.5%, cmpleting these hurs will earn yu an additinal 3.75% f the base. August 28, 29, 30, 2017 (Everyne.) Pay will shw up n Sept paycheck. Befre the schl year begins, building and department level meetings Friday, Octber 13, 2017 (Everyne) Pay will shw up n Nv paycheck. Fr all emplyees, there will be an eight (8) hur Prfessinal Develpment Day in Octber. The District will spnsr prfessinal develpment n this day. PD must ccur n Octber 13 th. Teachers must infrm their supervisr if they are attending prfessinal develpment utside the district n this day. Additinally, trainings frm utside rganizatins ffering prfessinal develpment as part f the State-wide In-service Day may be used as an apprpriate prfessinal develpment ptin. Friday, March 16, 2018 (Elementary nly) Pay will shw up n the April r May paycheck. Fr Elementary staff, there will be an eight (8) hur Prfessinal Develpment Day in March. Staff wh wrk at bth the Elementary and Secndary level chse which day they wuld like t wrk. Mnday, March 19, 2018 (Secndary nly) Pay will shw up n the April r May paycheck. 3

Hurly Paid Prfessinal Develpment April, May and/r June 2018 (Everyne) Pay will shw up n the June paycheck. Fur (4) hurs fr cllabratin in planning transitins fr the next schl year. Buildings will cllectively determine when this will ccur during April, May and/r June. Meetings must be a minimum f ne (1) hur in length, and must ccur befre r after the student day r n a nn-restricted Wednesday afternn planning time. District Designated Prfessinal Develpment Up t eight (8) hurs f per diem pay can be earned fr cmpletin district designated training. Training will be in tw (2) hur blcks n Sept 27, Oct 25, Nv 29 and Mar 28. Individually Directed Prfessinal Develpment Up t eight (8) hurs f per diem pay can be earned fr cmpletin f prfessinal develpment selected by the individual. This can be PD prvided by BSD n Wednesday afternns, as well as befre r after schl. Additinally, individuals may turn in verificatin f participatin in PD prvided by rganizatins utside f BSD. Training taken during the summer f 2018 als applies. *Update as f September 2018, the verificatin prcess fr these hurs may change. Check with the ITCL in yur building fr prcedure! CERTIFIED SALARY Each cell n the BSD Salary Schedule is cmpsed f 3 elements: Base Pay: Base pay is cmprised f funds the district receives frm the state based n the staff mix funding frmula. Bellevue is NOT n the state Salary Allcatin Mdel (SAM), we have ur wn salary schedule. This is where Cst f Living Increases (COLA) frm the state are reflected. This year there is an increase t the base f 1.8% f last year s base in every cell. We will nt knw if there are COLA increases fr years 2 and 3 f the cntract until after next year s legislative sessin. TRI Pay: The remainder f yur salary is a result f lcal negtiatins between BEA and BSD. It is ften referred t as TRI pay (Time, Respnsibility, and Incentive). Funding cmes frm the passage f levies by Bellevue vters. Full explanatin f these hurs can be fund in Article 22, Sectin 8 Incentive Pay: Article 22, Sectin 8, Part A These funds are paid t all emplyees in the cllective bargaining unit, but the amunt is prrated up and dwn by FTE. N extra wrk r dcumentatin required. This pay is autmatically included in mnthly pay thrughut the year. This is where yur lcally funded pay increases which require n extra time r respnsibility are fund. This is the largest part f yur TRI, and it is prvided in recgnitin f the perfrmance f additinal prfessinal respnsibilities utside the regular wrkday. Such at the sle discretin f the emplyee. New in this cntract: % increase plus higher per diem rate (1.8%) fr calculating 136 hurs included in the frmula % increase, per diem rate will depend n whether the legislature increases the base, new lngevity bnuses fr years 20-24, and 25+ 4

6 , 2.8% increase, per diem rate will depend n whether the legislature increases the base T&R Supplemental Pay: Article 22, Sectin 8, Part B The fllwing 128 hurs f per diem pay are available t all emplyees in the cllective bargaining unit. The hurs/pay are prrated fr thse wrking less than 0.4 FTE. The pay is autmatically included in yur mnthly pay warrant thrughut the year. There is a sign ff sheet at the end f the year stating that yu cmpleted the assciated wrk, but it is minimal. In additin t nn-student days, wrk perfrmed befre/after student hurs, Wednesday afternn, and during planning cunt tward these hurs. 1. The District-wide expectatins fr sixty-fur (64) hurs f per diem pay include: Parent cnferences, bth frmal and infrmal Prfessinal develpment, including district-spnsred wrkshps, technlgy training, building-level r externally spnsred wrkshps r classes. Participatin in curriculum develpment, review and/r revisin. Activities related t Natinal Bard Certificatin, Prfessinal Certificatin, r disciplinespecific prfessinal certificatin. Paperwrk and meetings related t IDEA, IEPs, MDT meetings, health screenings, student academic tracking r ther prfessinal respnsibilities required by state r federal statutes. Wrking tgether in grade-level, discipline r building-level teams t analyze assessment data t use in imprving instructin. Library management respnsibilities. 2. Sixty-fur (64) hurs f per diem pay are t be used fr wrk related t the District s technlgy initiative. The District-wide expectatins fr these hurs include: Technlgy training and individual applicatin and implementatin f District-prvided technlgy equipment, sftware and the web-based curriculum and assessment resurces. Participatin in the develpment f technlgy-related resurces fr the imprvement f instructin. EARLY RELEASE WEDNESDAYS Mdified Wrkweek MOU, pg. 136 f the BEA/BSD Cllective Bargaining Agreement The purpse f Wednesday early release is t prvide cmmn time fr certificated staff t actively participate in self-identified pririties, staff driven cllabratin, and prfessinal develpment. The time after students are released n Wednesday until the end f the wrkday is staff members individual planning time. Staff determine what wrk they will d during that time with the exceptin f: Building Wednesdays - 10 Wednesdays thrughut the year will be reserved fr building level prfessinal develpment. Staff and administratin will determine the schedule f the 10 Wednesdays tgether. - The entire staff f a building shuld reach cnsensus n three critical aspects: 5

7 1. What self-identified pririties and staff driven cllabratin des yur building have fr this time? 2. D yu need t use the up t 90 minutes available and all 10 meeting times? 3. Which Wednesdays during the year des yur staff want t reserve fr these meetings? - Attendance at Building Wednesday Meetings is ptinal fr ESA staff. Each ESA department will determine which 10 Wednesdays they will meet fr this Building time. - Part time staff wh d nt wrk n Wednesday afternns are nt required t cme in and attend meetings that are scheduled during a time that they wuld nt nrmally wrk District Designated Prfessinal Develpment - District level prfessinal develpment will be ffered n the fur Wednesdays designated with a D n the BSD calendar. Attendance is ptinal, and staff may earn additinal per diem pay by attending. Restricted Wednesdays - Restricted Wednesday are designated with an R n the BSD calendar. N building r district spnsred meetings, trainings r prfessinal develpment will be scheduled n these days. These Wednesdays are reserved fr staff planning time. EVALUATIONS Sectin 2 The Observatin Prcess applies t all emplyees. There are new statewide definitins fr the terms bserve and bservatin. The new expanded definitin is designed t address the many elements f ur prfessins nt easily bserved during a classrm visit. The definitin is as fllws: The gathering f evidence made thrugh classrm r wrksite visits, r ther visits, wrk samples r cnversatins that allw fr the gathering f evidence f the perfrmance f assigned duties fr the purpse f examining evidence ver time against the instructinal framewrk (where applicable). Observatins: Minimum f 2 (except 3 rd year prvisinal wh have a minimum f 3) Maximum f 5 New emplyees within the first 90 days The maximum number f bservatins may be exceeded with the agreement f the emplyee r when the emplyee is receiving supprt thrugh a frmal assistance plan.
