2 GA Flood Map Modernization Responsible for end-to-end production Developed aggressive outreach program Effective DFIRMS for all 159 counties by December 2010 Budgets were very limited Many unmapped communities in Georgia received flood maps for the first time

7 Upper Chattahoochee River Basin Project (UCRB) Focus of FY09 Mapping Project Update H&H model for 107 miles Extensive survey Calibrate models using HWM results from recent flooding events Forsyth, Gwinnett, DeKalb, Cobb, Fulton, Douglas, & Coweta Counties Identify high priority sub-basins Incorporate new high-accuracy elevation data Countywide DFIRM revision or Physical Map Revision (PMR) 7

9 9 Project Milestones FEMA issues final BFE determination to CEO by letter and publishes in Federal Register (Letter of Final Determination) FEMA submits final FIS Report and Maps to printing The community is given SIX MONTHS to enact required Ordinances FIRM/FIS becomes effective 6 months from issuance of Letter of Final Determination If community does not adopt by effective date, they will be suspended from the NFIP Pre-New Effective Map Assessment & Planning meeting with GA DNR
