The purpse f the Prtland Japanese Garden is t create, maintain, imprve, and administer an authentic, wrld-class Japanese garden in the city f Prtland and t ffer cmpatible educatinal, cultural, artistic, hrticultural, envirnmental, and charitable activities. The missin f Prtland Parks & Recreatin is t help Prtlanders play - prviding the safe places, facilities, and prgrams which prmte physical, mental, and scial activity. We get peple, especially kids, utside, active, and cnnected t the cmmunity. As we d this, there will be an increase in the wellness f ur residents and the livability f ur city. The WFC prvides critical prgrams in cnvening and prfessinal develpment f glbal leaders and practitiners in frestry and related fields. Thrugh its Wrld Frest Institute Prgram, the WFC has hsted public and private frest prfessinals frm ver 33 cuntries t advance research, netwrking, and knwledge exchange. 3 EXPLORE WASHINGTON PARK WAS CREATED TO HELP PEOPLE MAKE DECISIONS ABOUT HOW THEY GET TO AND AROUND THE PARK, AND MAKE SURE THEY HAVE WHAT THEY NEED TO MAKE THEIR VISIT ENJOYABLE. Explre Washingtn Park (EWP) wrks in crdinatin with venues in Washingtn Park and Prtland Parks and Recreatin t imprve access t the park. Venue leadership sits n the EWP bard and guides staff in implementatin f this plan. EWP supprts the missin f all f ur partner venues. This plan incrprates key prtins f several existing plans, including the Transprtatin and Parking Management Plan, a plan cmpleted in 2011 as part f the Oregn Z Master Plan update. It bth highlights the wrk that has been cmpleted t date and identifies thse things that still need ding. It als includes new ideas t prvide a fresh lk at what EWP hpes t accmplish ver the next five years. A t it s highest level, this plan is rganized int fur fcus areas that describe the majr themes f EWP s wrk. The heart f the plan are the gals, bjectives, and strategies, which are weighed against specific targets that we hpe t achieve ver the next five years. It als identifies perfrmance measures t evaluate and mnitr prgress and help keep us n track. The agreed upn gals will be the crnerstne f EWP s wrk in the near term. Fcus Areas are the majr themes f EWP s wrk. Gals are brad, lnger-term aims that define accmplishment f ur five-year plan. The brad nature f the gals allws fr flexibility as changing circumstances dictate. Objectives are mre narrwly fcused aims that supprt the lng term gals. Strategies are specific actins that will help us achieve the gals and bjectives f this plan. The plan identifies the timeframe fr cmpleting the actin (unless it is an nging actin) and the status f the strategy at the time the plan was written. Targets are measurable, quantifiable, and realistic benchmarks that measure the accmplishment f a gal ver a perid f time. Perfrmance Measures are the yardsticks we use t evaluate ur prgress. 5 TARGETS The targets are specific measures that we aim t achieve ver the next five years. They are easily articulated measures that get at the wrk f ur gals. The plan spans 2016 thrugh 2020, with 2015 as the baseline year, unless therwise nted.
