2 Mission & Impact Statements Mission The mission of Middle Tennessee Boxer Rescue is to take in neglected, abused, and abandoned boxers, restore them to health, if necessary and feasible, and place them in loving, permanent homes. Background Middle Tennessee Boxer Rescue was started in 1990, on a small scale (approximately 40 dogs/year). In 2003, we obtained our 501(c)(3), and in 2014, we took in 200 boxers and boxer mixes. All dogs are spayed/neutered, treated for health issues (including heartworms), and adopted into loving, permanent homes. We also help educate the public about spay/neuter, and responsible animal ownership. Impact We take in about 200 boxers and boxer mixes per year, most from pounds and shelters in Tennessee. We assist owners to re-home dogs by posting courtesy listings on our website. Many of the dogs we take in have heartworms, which we treat before placing them. Needs Our greatest need is for additional donations for vet care, which is - by far - our greatest expense. Because the dogs that come in have varying needs, our vet costs can range from $100 to more than $1500. Any amount helps! CEO Statement We are the only boxer rescue in most of Tennessee, and are often called upon to help with dogs in other adjoining states. 2

3 Programs Programs Boxer Adoption Description We obtain boxers and boxer mixes from Tennessee pounds and shelters, sometimes from other rescues and from owners. We take the dogs to our veterinarians for a thorough exam, a determination of any health issues, and a plan for treatment of any issues found. We place incoming dogs in foster homes, if possible; otherwise, they are housed in our kennel or in a boarding facility until the dog is adopted or until we have a foster home available. Potential adopters (and potential fosters) must fill out an application, which is then processed to determine if the home is suitable for permanent (or foster) placement of one of our dogs.
