Executive Summary The fur year business plan and budgets presented in this dcument will guide SANABO thrugh setting achievable and measurable utcmes, which will be mnitred and adjusted during the fur year perid. A ttal amunt f R 19,074, fr High Perfrmance training and R15,125,116 fr Internatinal participatin (Ttal: R34,199,267) is required ver a fur-year perid ( ) t fully supprt bxers t cmpete n Internatinal level and win medals. The main bjective is t qualify bxers fr the Olympic Games 2012 and t win medals at the 2012 Olympic Games and Wrld champinships during the fur year perid. Shuld the Department Sprt and Recreatin Suth Africa nly allcate a percentage f the ttal amunt per year, the budget and business plan will be re-evaluated and adjusted t ensure prper priritisatin f fcus areas. Refer t Annexure A fr detailed csting breakdwn f all initiatives. 2. SANABO Majr Objectives fr 2009 t 2012 Visin: Develpment f wrld class bxers and caches thrugh High Perfrmance training targeted at winning mre medals n Internatinal level, which will lead t a greater number f bxers qualifying fr the 2012 Olympic Games in Lndn and winning three (3) medals. Key Objectives: T develp wrld class bxers in all the categries f bxing and t win medals n all levels: a. Elite bxers. b. Yuth Bxers. c. Schlby bxers. d. Wmen bxers. 3

Ref# Initiative Fcus Area A Scientific Testing f Elite Athletes Elite perfrmance B Team Training and Preparatin Camps Elite perfrmance C Testing Cycles (Decentralised) Elite perfrmance D Residential Prgramme Elite perfrmance E Internatinal Participatin Elite perfrmance INITIATIVE A: SCIENTIFIC TESTING OF ELITE ATHLETES Primary Objective Descriptin f Initiative Why is this Initiative Required Investment / Cst Requirement per Year T expse the tp bxers identified during the Natinal champinships t the scientific apprach t their sprt and t prvide them with basic life skills and mental preparatin as they are appraching an elite level f cmpetitin. 22 Bxers t be identified and tested. 2 Grups f 11 bxers each. Grup A: Grup B: 11 SANABO Senir champins (11 Divisins). 7 Identified bxers (Schlby & Yuth). 4 Wmen Bxers. 4-day testing (physilgical, mental, nutritinal) at HPC cmbined with a training camp (10 Days in Ttal). (Ttal = 22 Athletes tested tw times per year: 44 Sprt Science testings). The imprtance f sprt-specific testing is a mindset that SANABO is aiming t instill n all levels, and shuld nt be underestimated. The utcmes f develpment prgrammes can be measured and cntrlled at the hand f such testing. It als supprts the individual athlete in his effrts t reach the highest level f cmpetitin. 5 Suth African Natinal Bxing Organisatin (SANABO) 4-Year High Perfrmance Business Plan INITIATIVE B: COMPETITION TRAINING CAMPS Primary Objective Descriptin f Initiative Why is this Initiative Required T equip and prepare all Natinal squads selected fr internatinal turnaments in rder t ptimise their verall perfrmance Training camps, lasting 14 days each with the main bjective f preparing individuals scientifically fr internatinal cmpetitins. Pre- Internatinal Participatin training camps shuld be minimum 14 days lng. Aspects such as physical cnditining, nutritin and mental preparatin will be addressed. The camp will als prvide the bxers with an pprtunity t bnd as a team befre cmpetitin. Training camps have becme an integral part f team preparatin fr Internatinal cmpetitins and supprts verall team chesin and individual fcus. INITIATIVE C: TESTING CYCLE (Decentralised) Fur times per year T evaluate the athlete s fitness level and identify areas where he/she need Primary Objective t imprve fr internatinal turnaments in rder t ptimize their verall perfrmance. Athletes will attend the testing at the clsest COS. The Bxing prtcl and Descriptin f Initiative relevant tests will be cnducted. A Full reprt will be made available t SANABO. Athletes will stay at the COS and receive the prfessinal supprt they need t win medals n Internatinal level. T the Natinal Cach/SANABO t mnitr the fitness level f the Elite athletes. Prblem areas will be identified and the necessary interventins can be implemented in time. Measurement against SASCOC/SRSA bjectives We believe that bxing can certainly achieve expnential grwth ver the next few years, and that Suth Africa can becme the pwerhuse f African bxing. The initiatives scped ut in this plan frms the blueprint fr SANABO achieving this. Withut funding hwever, this will never becme a reality and we are als acutely aware that the funds allcated t the sprt need t realize benefits in the frm f grwth and medals. SANABO will therefre develp a detailed balanced screcard f ur fur-year plan and we will reprt n ur prgress against this screcard t SASCOC and the Dept Sprt and Recreatin Suth Africa. SANABO will adhere t all the requirements set by SASCOC/SRSA as stipulated in the Special Service Agreement between SANABO and SRSA. 6

Cnclusin SANABO has thrughly thught thrugh the 4-year business plan and believes that it will guide us in implementing sustainable prcesses and systems t imprve ur perfrmance in the Internatinal arena. The budget f R34,199,267 millin fr the perid SANABO presents in the business plan is realistic in terms f a cmprehensive develpment, empwerment and perfrmance apprach. In case f a partial grant frm LOTTO/SRSA, cre aspects f the business plan will be identified and priritised, taking int accunt ur key bjectives and mst efficient applicatin f funds. SANABO is ready t implement the strategy and plans highlighted in the dcument. It wuld hwever be challenging t implement the plan and reach ur visin and bjectives withut the funding supprt frm the NLDF/SRSA. This mney will activate the implementatin strategy and will give SANABO the basis t start their hlistic Elite develpment prgramme f the sprt. Althugh we much appreciate the initiative by SRSA t implement a Natinal High Perfrmance Plan in terms f testings, training camps and residential prgrammes it will be null and vid withut the supprt t give ur athletes Internatinal expsure.
