Ntinal Service Calculatr: This allws yu t estimate the cst f purchasing additinal service (by peridic mnthly payments frm next birthday t Age 60/65 r by Lump sum) Click n Ntinal Service Calculatr Enter amunt f service t purchase ( in abve example). The amunt f service t purchase can be amended as required. Ntes: - Default is maximum allwed fr purchase t Age 65 (Sample abve 40 Years minus ptential service at Age 65). - Nn-new entrants (i.e. in the public sectr prir t 1 April 2004) can als purchase t Age 60 (Amend Purchase t Age: t 60) - Ptential Pensinable Service nly includes service at NUI Galway, service being purchased and service transferred in t date. This is nt necessarily the same as the date yur pensinable service starts, as yu may have previus temprary service, which was nt pensinable at the time but has subsequently becme pensinable. Check yur pensinable service figure in the Appintment Histry & Service Adjustment tabs fr a breakdwn f yur pensinable service. Date f Calculatin Tday s date Pensinable Salary The current full time equivalent pensinable earnings. In calculating pensin benefits fr a part time member f staff, the pensinable service is reduced pr rata t the full time equivalent but the fulltime equivalent salary is used. My Benefits (Nrmal Retirement) - Benefits are based n ptential pensinable service t nrmal pensin age (Age 65) and current pensinable earnings. Pensin The annual pensin amunt payable at nrmal retirement age. Lump Sum The lump sum amunt payable at nrmal retirement age. My Benefits (Death in service): Widws Pensin The annual pensin amunt payable n date f death t a spuse. Lump Sum The lump sum amunt payable t the spuse / legal and persnal representatives. This benefit is the greater f the lump sum based n pensinable service and pensinable earnings at date f death r ne year s salary. Childs Pensin The annual pensin amunt payable n date f death t a child dependant.

Discretinary Added Years (Nt Guaranteed) refers t ptential added years which are nt guaranteed and will nt appear n yur recrd. i. Nrmal Retirement Benefits are payable at age 65* ii. Retirement Benefits at varius selected ages iii. Actuarially Reduced Early Retirement, als knwn as cst neutral early retirement (CNER), is available frm the ages f (r New Entrants). Benefits are actuarially reduced fr early payment. iv. Death in Service Benefits payable in the event f death t yur spuse/ legal representatives.

8 v. Deferred/ Preserved Benefits If yu leave NUI Galway prir t nrmal retirement age and have mre than 2 years service, yu will be due deferred benefits at nrmal retirement age. The Calculatr will return the criteria used alng with the annual pensin amunt, lump sum amunt and the spuses annual pensin amunt where relevant.
