Our aim is t ensure that at the cmpletin f training the new frk lift peratr is mre than just qualified... he r she is capable & emplyable. Using the natinal curriculum and internally develped and individually tailred integrated training systems, we seek t help students achieve higher assessment success in shrter time scales. Cmpany Objectives Barclay Thmas Training Grups CODE OF PRACTICE Barclay Thmas Training Grup Pty Ltd aims t maintain the highest prfessinal standards in design, delivery, and marketing f frklift training. Our plicies and practices are aimed at: prviding effective, efficient training services t its students, and Safeguarding and perpetuating the high standards f the lgistics & HRW training industry. The cmpany aims t prvide a facility and a learning envirnment that is bth interesting and enjyable, and cnducive t the success f each individual student. Access and Equity Plicy The directrs, staff & management seeks t create an envirnment where all persns are treated equitably and with respect, where persn s rights are respected and where staff and students effrts are encuraged and their achievements given due recgnitin. In accrdance with Anti Discriminatin and Equal Opprtunity Legislatin in all States f Australia, ur staff are aware and sensitive t the diverse needs f individual clients, including peple wh face barriers due t age, gender, cultural differences, disability, language literacy and numeracy. Fairness must be cnsidered in the cntext f all f the relevant circumstances, including curse pre-requisite requirements, age specific requirements, and the applicants capacity t take part in the prgram, and des nt imply that all students are treated the same. Recruitment Recruiting f students by Barclay Thmas Training Grup will be cnducted in an ethical and respnsible manner and will be cnsistent with the requirements f the current standards fr Registered Training Organisatins. Enrlment f students will be n a first cme first served basis and classes will be based n a max f three students t a frklift. The management f BTTG reserves the right t refuse enrlment if there is reasn t believe that the student s educatinal experience r ther capabilities are nt apprpriate t this curse f study based n a numeracy and literacy test althugh an alternative f ral assessment may be ffered in sme case s Apprpriately qualified staff will assess the extent t which each applicant is likely t achieve the cmpetency standards and curse utcmes, based n the curse entry requirements and the applicant s current educatinal qualificatins and/r prficiency s. All trainee selectin decisins will cmply with equal pprtunity legislatin and natinal guidelines. Page 2 f 6

3 WHSQ regulatins state that students must be: 18years f age t hld a frklift licence Students wh need specialised assistance unavailable internally will be referred t external rganisatins apprpriate t their needs. Curse Fees All students pay a nn-refundable up frnt training fee in advance f cmmencement day at time f bking The full curse fee cvers: Prvisin f Training Materials and handuts Lan f Easy Guide reference bks Use f frklifts Assessment fee Any remedial training and subsequent assessment (1) will be included. Shuld the student require a replacement testamur due t student lss r destructin this will be issued at a fee f $25 shuld the testamur need reissuing due t fault f the schl, this will be prvided at n fee. Refund Plicy Shuld the student cease enrlment the entire unused prtin f any prepaid amunt will be frfeited if ntice is nt given/received by BTTG within 48 hurs (tw wrking days) prir t the scheduled curse date Refunds will nt be given t a third party r third party payee. Privacy Plicy BTTG acknwledges and respects the privacy f individuals. The infrmatin cllected includes but is nt limited t persnal cntact details, curse enrlment details and changes t enrlled curses. The schl uses the infrmatin nly fr the purpse that it was prvided and t cmmunicate with nminated persns in the event f an emergency. BTTG des nt prvide r sell persnal infrmatin t external cmpanies fr the purpse f marketing. The schl may als cllect statistical infrmatin in rder t imprve the level f service prvisin; hwever nne f this infrmatin can be attributable t any individual. The schl is required t prvide persnal infrmatin t external agencies r rganisatins including the Australian Gvernment and designated authrities and licensing bdies in rder t prvide specific services and as required by law. This may include sharing infrmatin with the Australian Skills Quality Authrity (ASQA), The Department f Educatin & Training, (DET) Australian Cuncil fr Private Educatin and Training (ACPET); Wrkplace Health & safety Queensland (WHSQ) Physical Resurces Students have access t the necessary facilities/materials/equipment t cmplete their curse These include: Well maintained Frklifts Mdern training rm facilities with multimedia equipment Resurce Learning Materials reference materials Student lunges Freedm f Infrmatin Whilst all training recrds are the prperty f the cmpany, BTTG guarantees the right f access f each student t his r her wn training recrd n written request and in the cmpany f an appinted BTTG emplyee. Instructinal Standards BTTG is cmmitted t prviding students with the highest pssible safety and prfessinal training standards and adheres t the standards fr Natinal Vcatinal Registratin (NVR). All instructrs hld relevant cmpetencies and knwledge at an equivalent r higher level than specified in the unit f instructin t be delivered and are encuraged t further develp their wn skills. 4 Relevant Legislatin fr Training STUDENT INFORMATION BOOK BTTG abides by the regulatins f the fllwing Acts and Regulatry bdies: VET Quality Framewrk Australian Qualificatins Framewrk The Natinal Vcatinal Educatin and Training Regulatr Act 2011 The Cpyright Act 1968 Anti Discriminatin Act 1991 Racial Discriminatin Act 1975 Sex Discriminatin Act 1984 Privacy and Persnal Infrmatin Prtectin Act 1998 Privacy (Private Sectr) Regulatins 2001 Human Rights and Equal Opprtunity Cmmissin Act 1986 Disability Discriminatin Act 1992 Disability Standards fr Educatin 2005 This legislatin is available t students and staff via electrnic cpy. T retrieve cpies f this legislatin please see administratin. Cde f Cnduct Students are expected t carry ut their duties in a prfessinal, respnsible and curteus manner and t be accuntable fr their cnduct and decisins. Staff and students have a duty t take reasnable care t avid causing harm (including physical harm) t anyne. Thus, staff and students shuld actively prmte safe wrking practices and envirnments fr everyne using schl facilities. Material, financial and cmputerised resurces shuld be used nly fr the legitimate schl purpses fr which they are prvided. All training material and handuts are the cpy write f BTTG, unless cpy write is previusly claimed and held by a prprietary supplier either cannt be cpied fr distributin t ther parties. Students may nt remve cmpany equipment frm the schl, except where this is necessary fr schl purpses and where they have apprpriate permissin. All prperty f BTTG is t remain the prperty f BTTG. The General Manager and staff d nt ever expect t discipline students wh are undertaking a frk lift licence curse. Students may hwever fall in t the fllwing disciplinary areas. Wrkplace Health & Safety. - All students have a duty f care t wrk and study in a safe manner that cannt cause harm t themselves r thers. Abuse BTTG will nt cndne abuse f any srt. N verbal r physical abuse f staff r ther students will be tlerated. Abuse f schl s resurces will nt be tlerated. Discriminatin. - BTTG will nt cndne sexual harassment r racial prejudice in any frm Recgnitin f Prir Learning and Credit Transfer Where ever pssible previus frklift training will be taken int accunt when enrlling in ur curses. A student transferring frm anther schl will need t discuss their prir training with the instructr Fr prir partial assessment an assessment summary will be required t give credits The student will require evidence by way f their lg bk r training recrds. N recrds = n credit given Curse Cntent and Assessment Prcedures Student training and prgress is t industry specific standards incrprating the Natinal syllabus and the Transprt Lgistics Industry Package TLI LIC 2001 A, which specify the cmpetencies a frk lift peratr must achieve at varius stages befre a final assessment and the issue f a frk lift peratr licence. Assessment is in three parts 1) Written Knwledge 2) Calculatins 3) Practical Page 4 f 6

5 Results and Qualificatins Wrk Place health & safety Queensland will be ntified in advance f any assessments, which the student undertakes. The Accredited Assessr will recrd satisfactry cmpletin f assessments and issue assessment summaries. WHSQ will issue the necessary licences t reflect a pass in these tests via applicatin at Australia Pst utlet Once a student has cmpleted their training with BTTG their recrds will be kept in the student archives fr 6 years as required by ASQA and a cpy f the Statement f Attainment issued will be kept fr 30 years. All qualificatins and statements f attainment issued by BTTG cnfrm t Standard SNR23 f the NVR Standards fr Cntinuing Registratin. Academic Appeals BTTG seeks t prevent appeals by ensuring that students are satisfied with their training prduct and its utcmes. Any cmplaint abut any assessment will be treated seriusly, investigated thrughly, and dealt with accrding t the merit f the cmplaint. The circumstances and results f any appeal are analysed by the Chief Executive Officer. Appeals must be made within 21 days f receipt f assessment. All recrds f any appeals will be kept n file. Appeal Prcedure: Ntify BTTG within 21 days. Assessr will prvide a written statement f utcme within a further 21 days. Seek reassessment r arbitratin by a third party r panel acceptable t all parties t the appeal The student has the right t appear in persn befre the panel. If the appeal is still unreslved, the student will be advised f external rganisatins. Eg Cnsumer Affairs r the relevant Gvernment Department that may be able t assist. The full Appeals Plicy and Prcedure is available frm Administratin Nn-Academic Cmplaint Nn-academic matters include thse matters which d nt relate t student prgress, assessment, curse cntent r awards in a curse. These matters may include but are nt limited t peratinal, administrative, discriminatin and harassment issues. Examples f these culd include sexual harassment, racial r sexual discriminatin, physical r verbal abuse. Nn Academic Cmplaints Prcedure: Stage ne: Frmal cmplaints shuld be submitted in writing n the Cmplaint Reprt Frm available n request frm administratin. The cmplaint must be submitted t the Operatins Manager with a detailed written explanatin f the grievance. The student may request the assistance f a member f staff t help with the frm. The Operatins Manager will cmmence the cmplaint reslutin prcess within 10 wrking days and all reasnable measures will be taken t finalise the prcess as sn as practical. The OM will investigate the cmplaint and interview any persns assciated with the cmplaint t gain a full understanding f the issues in rder t make a cnsidered decisin. Bth the cmplainant and the respndent may be accmpanied by a third party if s desired at these interviews. The OM will prvide a written decisin t the cmplainant within 15 wrking days utlining the reasns fr the decisin and the cmplainant s right t access stage tw f this prcedure if they are nt satisfied with the decisin. Stage Tw: If the Cmplainant is nt satisfied with the utcme f Stage One they may ldge an appeal in writing with the CEO. The decisin will be reviewed and if necessary he will cnsult with the Cmplainant and ther relevant persns t make a determinatin f the appeal. Page 5 f 6

6 The cmplainant will be advised in writing f the results f the appeal within 5 wrking days with reasns fr the decisin and f their right t prceed t Stage Three f the prcess if they still feel the matter is nt reslved. Stage Three: If the Cmplainant is nt satisfied with the utcme f Stage tw they may request that the matter be referred t an external dispute reslutin prcess. At any pint the cmplainant may decide t refer the matter t an external agency such as the Anti Discriminatin Bard r the Office f Fair Trading. External bdies include: Department f Attrney General and Justice Anti-Discriminatin Cmmissin cmplaint line Office f Fair Trading Qld Students will be advised that any csts incurred thrugh an external agency will be the respnsibility f the student. BTTG will immediately implement any decisin and/r crrective and preventative actin required as a result f cmplaints and appeals. Student Cunselling/Supprt The CEO is available by appintment t discuss issues arising during training. Where prfessinal cunselling appears necessary, BTTG will, at the students request arrange a meeting between a student and a cunsellr. Where the cunselling invlves prfessinal fees, payment f these fees will be the respnsibility f the student. Page 6 f 6
