2 GENERAL MANAGER U P D A T E Members, The month of May has been a great at the Club. Mother s Day brunch was bigger than ever with 296 members and guests in attendance. Our kick off party at the pool was a great success with 172 members enjoying great company, wonderful libations and Ket s burgers. Opening Day the pool was mobbed and Memorial Day was also a success (albeit with the weather dampening things somewhat). The men s and Ladies Twilite leagues have been well supported in spite of the wet weather. The Legacy Open had to be rescheduled due to the weather; the new date is September 30th. All-in-all the membership has really supported our events, which is deeply appreciated. This month will feature several of our most popular events: Ladies and Men s Invitationals, pool/tennis socials, Summer Breeze Party (23rd) and Father s Day (17th) as well as other ongoing club events. Please remember to watch your children when visiting the Club, particularly in the Clubhouse. Children are not permitted to roam the Clubhouse unsupervised, play on the golf course, or enter the locker rooms without a parent with them. As the weather continues to improve, the Club becomes much busier. During these times it is very important to follow the rules to ensure that the entire membership can enjoy their time at the Club. Congratulations to Ms. Terry Borgerding in the Accounting Office, she is celebrating her 25th anniversary at the Club. We also want to wish Shannon Welihan, Sales Event Manager a fond farewell; Shannon is moving home to Michigan to be closer to her family. Please welcome Rachel Caskey, Shannon s replacement; she joins our management with a rich background in restaurant management and banquet sales in hotels and the Convention Center. The Annual Membership meeting on May 10th was attended by over 200 members. The Board presented the current state of the Club, followed by several questions and comments received from the floor. Those in attendance expressed their support and appreciation for the Board and their tireless efforts to come to a resolution with the investment company. There was a follow up meeting held about a week later to answer any questions concerning the issues. You can find the slide presentation from the Annual Meeting, a follow up letter from Rachel O Neill, Club President, and a FAQ sheet on the Club s website. 10 SUPERINTENDENT UPDATE BRAD NOVOTNY HEAD GREENS SUPERINDENT Hillendale Members, We sure had a wild ride in May with a large amount of rain to finish the month. Fortunately, we ve been able to put a lot of applications down to prevent weeds, bugs, and disease. With the extra rain we experienced, we ve been utilizing wetting agents that help water quickly penetrate the soil and dissipate, speeding up the draining process. We re beginning this month with Invitational 2018 in our sights. The weather leading up to the event looks rainy but during the event we are expecting great golfing weather. Whatever Mother Nature throws at us, we will be prepared, and we ll continue to provide magnificent conditions your guests always enjoy. Although our Bill Smith Legacy Open was postponed until Sunday September 30 because of poor weather conditions, we still have some great auction items available. Take a look outside the First Tee Lounge and place your bids. All silent auctions will end on June 10. Get your bids in soon!! 19 TENNIS UPDATE NICOLE GRUNWALD DIRECTOR OF TENNIS Hello Tennis Fans! Its hard to believe that it s June and kids are almost out of school. Our junior camps and summer clinic schedule for both adults and juniors starts on June 18th (until then the current spring clinic schedule is continuing), so we would love to see all of our kids in camps or competition in the Junior Interclub Team. If your junior is interested in playing for either of the four divisions-- Girls & Boys 17 & Under, and Girls & Boys 13 & Under-- please me and we will add them to our roster. Both boys divisions are filling up fast, but we are still in much need of girls for both divisions. Tennis here at HCC is buzzing Players registered for our Memorial Day Social Round Robin, which we unfortunately had to cancel due to the weather. I hope to see all of you that had to miss out at our next social and I cant wait to see you out on the courts!
