UNEL is a whlly wned subsidiary f the University f Nrthamptn. Staff emplyed in this rganisatin wrk in the fllwing areas: 1 st Degree Facilities including husekeeping, grunds, maintenance staff, catering Unitemps Recruitment Agency bth cnsultant staff running the agency and thse enrlled and paid as staff members f Unitemps Enterprises Glssary Equal pay Where peple are paid the same fr wrk f equal value - i.e. all staff n the same grade f the University single pay spine. Full-pay relevant Gender pay gap Mean value (average) Median value T be included as a full-pay relevant emplyee, the emplyee must have been paid their full usual pay n 31 March This includes basic pay and hliday pay, but excludes reduced pay, vertime pay and pay in lieu f leave. The average difference between hurly pay fr the tw genders acrss the University wrkfrce. The sum divided by the cunt. The value in the middle f the list f numbers.

2 Gender Pay Gap At the time this data was cllected UNEL had 483 full pay relevant (FPR) members f staff. The wrkfrce at this time was made up f 184 males and 299 females. male female (a) The difference between the mean hurly rate f pay f male full-pay relevant emplyees and that f female full-pay relevant emplyees 14.9% Male: Female: 9.29 The data set includes tw male members f staff emplyed thrugh Unitemps as IT cnsultants which attracts a higher market rate salary. Withut these tw the pay gap wuld be 11.7%. (b) The difference between the median hurly rate f pay f male full-pay relevant emplyees and that f female full-pay relevant emplyees 11.4% The few tp male earners dn t impact the median. Male: 9.54 Female: 8.45

3 (c) The difference between the mean bnus pay paid t male relevant emplyees and that paid t female relevant emplyees 15.1% Male mean bnus pay: Female mean bnus pay: 199 UNEL 1 st Degree staff received a 250 bnus, which was prrated fr in year starters and part time wrkers. A higher prprtin f female staff wrk part-time, s the average female bnus was lwer. (d) The difference between the median bnus pay paid t male relevant emplyees and that paid t female relevant emplyees 18.9% Male median bnus pay: 250 Mre than half f the male emplyees wrked full time, making the median bnus 250. Female median bnus pay: (e) The prprtins f male and female relevant emplyees wh were paid bnus pay Prprtin f male emplyees wh received bnus pay: 38.6% Prprtin f female emplyees wh received bnus pay: 35.1% Male emplyees wh received bnus pay: 71 There are a greater number f females emplyed in Unitemps than males. As n Unitemps staff are eligible fr bnus this impacts n the prprtin f female staff in UNEL wh received a bnus. Female emplyees wh received bnus pay: 105

4 (f) The prprtins f male and female full-pay relevant emplyees in the lwer, lwer middle, upper middle and upper quartile pay bands We have ranked these FPR emplyees frm highest t lwest paid then divided this int fur equal parts called quartiles. Upper quartile Male: 58.7% Female: 41.3% Upper middle quartile Male: 43.8% Female: 56.2% Lwer middle quartile Male: 24.8% Female: 75.2% Lwer quartile Male: 25.0% Female: 75.0% Equal Pay fr wrk f Equal Value UNEL cmpletes Jb Evaluatin fr all psts within the rganisatin which determines the grade f the pst. Each grade attracts a salary, anyne n the same grade will be paid the same salary r hurly rate. This ensures that we pay equal pay fr wrk f equal value. Wrking t clse the gap We are nw wrking n an actin plan which will be published alngside this reprt.
