3 WELCOME TO RAS AL KHAIMAH 3 ITT RAS AL KHAIMAH It s always exciting to visit somewhere new and Ras Al Khaimah will, I imagine, be a new experience for most delegates. I was delighted to receive the invitation from the Ras Al Khaimah Tourist Development Authority because ITT has always supported the development of new destinations for the British market. The beauty of Ras Al Khaimah is that it lies just fifty minutes north of Dubai International Airport and yet enjoys mile after mile of the most wonderful undeveloped white sandy beaches. It is on one of these great beaches that the magnificent Waldorf Astoria is situated. Thanks to the support of our corporate partners, Hilton Worldwide, we have secured one of the finest hotels in the world for our 2015 Conference. Thanks also to Royal Brunei which is providing seats on their fantastic new Dreamliner from 330, including taxes! As always, we limit the number of delegates to 400 with a maximum of just two per company and the business programme will feature speakers of the highest quality, from both inside and outside of our industry. We shall be welcoming back our old friends Tim Hames and Lord Andrew Adonis, who will be joined by, amongst others, the new UK Chief Executives of both Thomas Cook and TUI and former Home Secretary, Alan Johnson MP. Participation is limited, so make sure to book your place early. If you want to discover the natural beauty spots of this rising Emirate, you can join one of the excursions on offer. Options include a sailing trip around the coast on Prince of the Sea, named after Ras Al Khaimah s most famous son, Ahmad Ibn Majid. The first day s sessions will include insights into the local region from Christian Grage, Vice President of Operation, Arabian Peninsula, Hilton Worldwide, as well as industry insights from Thomas Cook s Managing Director UK & Ireland, Salman Syed and the Deputy Chairman of Royal Brunei Airlines, Dermot Mannion. We ll also be hearing from guest speakers Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson DBE and the Former Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Chris Huhne. The afternoon will be free for you to relax, network and discover Ras Al Khaimah. ITT s most prestigious Conference event the Gala Dinner will take place in Peacock Alley, an impressive feature of the Waldorf Astoria which emulates the magnificent plumage and parading that is associated with the Peacock. 10 SPEAKERS Lord Andrew Adonis The Rt Hon Lord Andrew Adonis was Secretary of State for Transport from He pioneered Britain s plans for a high-speed rail line from London to Scotland and was previously Minister for Education, as well as Head of Tony Blair s Policy Unit. He is author or co-author of six books, including studies of the English class system and the British political system. He became a member of the House of Lords in Iain Andrew Divisional Senior Vice President, Travel Services, dnata Iain Andrew joined dnata Travel in December He is responsible for all aspects of dnata s award-wining travel business across 38 countries, including the management of Stella Travel Group, Imagine Cruising, Gold Medal, Travel Republic, Travel Counsellors UAE, City Sight Seeing, Emirates Holidays, Arabian Adventures, HRG, MMI Travel and Mindpearl. Before joining dnata, he was employed by Unipart, Thomas Cook, American Express, Air 2000, TUI, Britannia Airways and Dixons Stores Group in a number of IT, finance and general management roles. Chris Browne Chief Operating Officer, TUI Aviation Recognised as a pioneer in the aviation travel industry, Chris Browne has over 25 years experience in the travel sector. Chris joined First Choice, which now forms part of TUI UK & Ireland, in Since then, she has been promoted to a number of senior positions and today she holds the post of Chief Operating Officer for TUI Aviation following 10 years as Managing Director for Thomson Airways, the UK s third largest airline where she is responsible for a fleet of 57 aircraft and a team of 5,000 people. David Burling Managing Director, TUI UK & Ireland David Burling joined the Executive Committee of TUI Group following the merger of TUI AG and TUI Travel PLC in December He has been the Managing Director of TUI UK & Ireland since October 2011 and was appointed to the Group Management Board of TUI Travel PLC in April He previously held the position of Commercial Director for TUI UK following the merger of the Tourism Division of TUI AG and First Choice in September 2007 and was pivotal to the successful integration of the businesses, ensuring that both brands had a clear strategy for growth. David started his career at Thomson Holidays in Andrew Cornish CEO, Liverpool John Lennon Airport Andrew Cornish was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Liverpool John Lennon Airport on 15 September 2014, and is responsible for the overall performance, management and strategic development of the airport company. Prior to his current role, Andrew held the position of Chief Customer and Brand Officer at Aer Lingus, responsible for all customer facing activity and a member of the Group Executive Board. Christian Grage Vice President Operations, Arabian Peninsula, Hilton Grage s extensive 30 year hospitality career has spanned three continents and six countries. Following two years as Hilton Worldwide s Vice President of Operations for Egypt and Levant, Grage was appointed as Vice President, Operations for Arabian Peninsula in March 2013 with responsibility for operational and commercial management of more than 22* hotels across the region and a further 22* hotels currently under development. Jonathan Greensted Founder & CEO, Sentient One Jonathan is a self-confessed business geek, IT troubleshooter and entrepreneur with over 20 years experience of digital transformation. Jonathan has worked with travel companies such as: Flybe, Virgin Holidays and Avis Budget Group as well as launching a number of businesses including JoyofSocks.rocks and SentientOne.io.

11 11 Peter Hemington National Head of M&A, BDO Peter heads up BDO s Mergers & Acquisitions advisory business in the UK. BDO is the world s largest accounting firm specialising in advising entrepreneurs and mid-market companies. Although Peter continues to work across a variety of sectors, his main focus is on the leisure space. Peter also runs BDO s Business Trends report, a monthly poll of polls of business confidence and he appears regularly on TV and radio talking about the UK economy. Chris Huhne Chris Huhne has spent the last ten years concerned with energy and climate change policy as Minister, Shadow Minister and negotiator at national and international level. Chris has an in-depth knowledge of international, European and national political institutions. Prior to politics, Chris had a successful track record in business and economics. He was also an award-winning writer. Alan Johnson MP Alan Johnson was General Secretary of the Communication Workers Union before entering Parliament as Labour MP for Hull West and Hessle in He served as Home Secretary from June 2009 to May Before that, he filled a wide variety of cabinet positions in both the Blair and Brown governments, including Health Secretary and Education Secretary. Until January 2011 he was Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer. Dermot Mannion Deputy Chairman, Royal Brunei Airlines In 2010, Dermot was appointed by the Brunei Ministry of Finance to spearhead the corporate restructuring and rightsizing of the country s flag carrier airline. Previously Chief Executive Officer of Aer Lingus, he successfully led the privatisation of the airline and then subsequently defended two hostile takeover bids from Ryanair. Dermot s aviation career began at Emirates which he served for a number of years, rising to the position of President Group Support Services. Salman Syed Managing Director, Thomas Cook UK and Ireland Salman joined Thomas Cook in 2013 as the MD for the Western and Eastern European business. His previous experience was in technology, service and consulting businesses where he held global and regional leadership roles leading innovation, and building and transforming businesses. He has an MBA and graduate qualifications from the Kellogg s School of Management and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson DBE Britain s greatest Paralympic athlete, Tanni Grey-Thompson s magnificent career spanned 16 years and five Paralympic Games. An incredible medal haul of 11 Gold, three Silver and one Bronze established her as one of the most gifted and courageous sportswomen of her generation. Now retired, Tanni is President of the National Council of Voluntary Organisations; a UNICEF Ambassador; she chairs a Commission on the Future of Women s Sport, and she sits on the board of Transport for London and the London Legacy Development Corporation. Matthew Taylor Chief Executive, RSA Matthew has been Chief Executive of the RSA since November 2006, prior to which he was Chief Adviser on Political Strategy to the Prime Minister. Previous roles include Labour Party Director of Policy and Deputy General Secretary and Chief Executive of the IPPR, the UK s leading left of centre think tank. Matthew is a regular media commentator, having appeared several times on the Today Programme, The Daily Politics and Newsnight. 13 13 Alder Hey Auction At the Gala Dinner, Alder Hey Children s Hospital will be running a live auction with celebrity Auctioneer, Jonny Gould. Alder Hey cares for over 270,000 children, young people and their families every year. The Hospital runs the biggest and busiest children s Emergency Department in the UK treating nearly 60,000 children every year. The money raised during the Auction will be spent on purchasing specialist equipment for the Hospital, the details of which will be explained at the Conference. Jonny has presented a number of sports shows for Channel 5 as well as Sports News for ITV s London Tonight. He recently presented ESPN s award-winning sport chat show, Pardon the Interruption, and you can catch his dulcet tones on the iconic game show, Catchphrase!
