1 STMA Youth Hockey Association Meeting Minutes September 8, 2014 Board Members in Attendance: Josh, Jeff, Dawn B., Jenny B., Kris, Karl, Brent, Tammy, Matt W., Jen T., Kari, Holly, Jess, Heidi, Matt, Sharon, Wink, Dana, Sam, Jeff P. 7:03 - Called to Order by Josh August Meeting Minutes - Approved Set the Agenda - Matt/Jess - Approved Gambling Report - Dana Berg August Gambling Report - Approved September cash payments - Approved Assistant Gambling Manager - Laurie Ganz Mite Dad looking at booth build out at Neighbors More info coming soon on the Meat Raffle at 152 Club Open Forum Open Registration was awesome - on and off ice Karl s Sister in law did Gambling audit - says Dana is great! Mites 3v3 is up and running and going good Karl put together binders of the handbook and bylaws for all Board Members. Bring to all meetings. Out of Association events (example: Competitive Edge stuff that is set up). People can buy ice and do these things if they want. Anything Association sponsored has to go through the HOC. Association will not send out s to the entire Association if it s not sponsored by us. Brian Hanson - Read Minutes from August and has concerns. Brian helped run tryouts for the last 4 years. He wanted to share with the Association that he knows that Brent Evenson called evaluators before teams were finalized last year. Last year was the only year that there was a problem and that was because the evaluators weren t anonymous. Under no circumstances should a parent call an evaluator. Written Coordinator s Reports District 5 - Karl Anderson Coaching Brent Evenson Coaches Clinic is on September 9th at 7:15-9:15 On-ice coaching clinic and shooting clinic put on by Cory Laylin. We will also have pizzas and sodas. Please be to the rink around 6:45 for instructions. You will need your skates, sticks and gloves, The groups will be split into two, one will be traveling coaches the other will be initiation coaches. Please RSVP to Brent Brent.evenson@gmail.com Please also bring the following information with you along with your coaching application if you have not yet turned it in: a. Your CEP Number b. Your USA Hockey Registration Number c. Your Electronic Background Screening Confirmation d. Your signed Coaching Ethics Code Agreement Also if you have any questions please do not hesitate to call Brent All individuals that want to coach are welcome to attend. If you are not selected to coach the sensitive

Admittance for testing on the half hour beginning at 9:00 am. Last admittance at 11:30. Any questions, contact Sharon Oakvik Knight to Remember - Wink Can't skate but you need volunteer hours? Sit at the rink and you don't know anyone yet? Join the Knight to Remember planning committee. It's a great way to get involved, meet other parents and have fun while helping to plan our end of the year fundraiser. Our first meeting is Monday, September 29. Shooting for party in March of 2015 Will be asking teams for baskets again Executive Board Reports President s Report Josh Opiola Matt Weimer appointed to Girls Coordinator. 2 Open roles at Mite level - Admin and PDC Last meeting (August) was unpleasant. People are welcome to come to meetings and say what they need to say respectfully. There were very disparaging things were said at the August Board Meeting by many who never come to meeting to the Board Members. Disrespectful comments towards this Board will not be tolerated. If you don t like the way something is or has been done please bring your concerns forward in a respectful manner. Appoint Jen Tourville to the Coaches Selection Committee - Approved Hockey Development Report Paul Berning Secretary s Report Jen Tourville Feedback is that Joe Schwartz - Sponsorship is doing a great job. It s obvious at the rink too. Tons of new signage at the rink. Treasurer s Report Jeff Swenson August Financials - Jeff/Karl - Approved Coordinator s Reports District 5 Report - Karl Anderson Team Managers, Executive Board - have to do SafeSport Training Coaches need to get levels done now
4 Coaching Brent Evenson All Coaches that coached in MN Hockey last year don t have to do a Background Check this year - going to every other year. All new Coaches will have to.
