1 Central Upper Peninsula Hockey League Meeting Minutes, Spring 2015 Saturday, April 18, 2015 Wawonowin Golf Course, Ishpeming, Michigan Submitted by Walt Milligan, CUPHL Secretary/Statistician, October 12, Attendance: Calumet Copper Country Dickinson Escanaba Iron Range Iron River Ironwood Keweenaw Bay Manistique Marinette-Menominee Marquette Munising Ontonagon Tahquamenon Dan Zubiena Walt Milligan Ken Wood, Jeff Harvey Kim Milligan Mark Menhennick Chris Thompson Brian Anderson Rich Wickstrom Craig Savage No Representative Tim McIntosh Tina Hakkola Jason Clinesmith, Stacey Somero Bill Jordan Vice Commissioner/Treasurer Harvey called the meeting to order at 1:05 pm. Harvey circulated a Treasurer s Report, highlights attached. McIntosh moved and Hakkola seconded that the report be approved. Approved unanimously. Milligan circulated a season wrap-up, attached. Several people have complained about Marinette-Menominee using Wisconsin roster rules, which allow a pee wee to play on both a pee wee team and a bantam team. McIntosh stated that this is a common issue in travel hockey, and people just play by the rules of the organization where the rink is located. Savage moved and McIntosh seconded a motion to amend the by-laws such that games played in Wisconsin are subject to WAHA rules while those played in Michigan are subject to MAHA rules. Approved unanimously. A discussion occurred of an incident with a coach during a CUP League game. It was decided that the CUP League would not have a disciplinary process; that is best left to the District. However, it was agreed that the fine should be applied since the coach took his team home and skipped the second game. Officers were elected unanimously for : Craig Savage, Commissioner; Jeff Harvey, Vice Commissioner-Treasurer; Walt Milligan, Secretary-Statistician. Fall 2015 meeting was scheduled for Sunday October 18, 2015, at the Citizens Forum, Lakeview Arena, in Marquette. Meeting adjourned at 1:30 pm.
2 CUP League Wrap-Up, Season Walt Milligan April 18, 2015 There were 2 major issues with the season that I would like to see improvement in: 1. This was the second year of self-reporting scores, and there are still too many teams not reporting scores. 14% of game results were never reported, and we had to pester a lot of people to get up to that level. We have to figure out incentives or punishments to fix this. It is not fair to the people who are participating to not know all the results. 2. We had more arguments this year than usual about rescheduling games and whether or not they should be forfeits. We will be proposing changes to the by-laws to clarify this and to try to reduce the number of canceled games. Division Games Scheduled Scores Reported Scores Missing % Missing Squirt % Pee Wee % Bantam % Midget % Girls % Total % Year Games Scheduled % Missing Final standings and website analytics are attached.
