1 MAAM Board Meeting 6/9/14 Meeting called to order 7:34 p.m. Board Members Present Michael Gniot, Candy Eisenhauer, Tamara Vendetta, Janine Arecco Absent Janine Arecco, Mandy Zahn, Russ Weller, Chris Schanafelt, Aimee Crucianelli, Lori Lewis, MAAM Members present: Janice Frillman, Collin Acklin Action Items All Board Members are asked to get one sponsor for the Shell by June 26. All Board Members who have not sent Chris an idea for the education page do so ASAP. ALL Board Members are encouraged to research other cities that are the size of Kenosha to find out what their legislation is for music performances. Candy Update website ASAP. TATS volunteer sign up on MAAM page. Michael Provide materials for TATS shows. Lori Tamara Update website ASAP. Post minutes to Board Members and on Website. Janine Aimee- Russ- Chris- Officer Reports: President May minutes were accepted with the correction of June 26 instead of July 26 for Tuesdays at the Shell Sponsorships being due. Vice-President No report Treasurer Report enclosed Secretary No report May Action Items: New Business: Collin Acklin presented an itinerary for a potential new festival at the bandshell (see attached). He was asking for assistance from MAAM as a non-profit to help with a temporary beer license. Candy suggested we split the expenses for a beer tent, beer, and cups as well as splitting the profits from beer sales. Candy reported that when we helped for Log Jam in 2012, MAMM made $1200 for a 2 day festival. Expenses would be for a professional tent (approx. $175, 3 approx $90, and the bar for $25). MAAM's cost upfront would be approximately $300. Candy asked Collin for a list of bands playing. Michael asked if Collin is looking for sponsorships. He was willing to do that. MAAM would also be
2 willing to split the insurance for the beer. MAAM would provide a licensed bartender and staff. The tips go to the bartenders. MAAM would also provide security for the tent. Committee Reports: Legislative: No Report Grievance: No Report MAAMjam: No Report Shell: Bands have been chosen and dates set (see attachment). Candy will put a schedule on the MAAM page for people to sign up to volunteer. Boucher Motors would like for the bands that play TATS to also play at Boucher Motors the Saturday after their TATS show for $200. Jeff Tauri was chosen to do sound for TATS. Michael will pick Candy's van with the tent, the sign, the table, CDs, raffle tickets, etc for EACH night of the TATS shows. Each person heading up the evening will need 3 volunteers one to man the tent, an announcer, and raffle person. We need to sell more sponsorships to get the amount collected up to $3000. Youth Committee: No Report Speedbooking: No Report Marketing: No Report MAAMarama: The MAAmarama committee met on May 27. Don has most of the supplies. There will be space at Fusion for approximately 15 booths. The stage could be used for a bigger venue such as Music-go-round or Music Center, but they would pay $150 and would handle all their own sales. The committee would like to charge per booth space ($30-$50). You must be a MAAM member to participate. It was suggested that a fee might be charged at the door with a raffle included. It will be held 9/28 from Noon-4. People renting booth space must be there at 11. It will be suggested that sellers donate 20% of the sale of one item to the MAAM grant fund. That will be a voluntary donation. Janine will create a waiver stating that MAAM will not be liable for any of the sales. Michael suggested the waiver be on the admission ticket or a flier handed out when people enter so everyone has the waiver. If Don has the beer, wine, and soda license by 9/28 he keeps the profit for Fusion if the libations are sold. Candy suggested a charging percentage of items sold to pay for booth space. Michael suggested $20 per table. Candy volunteered to handle the monetary transactions if MAAM received a percentage of sales in lieu of a charge per table. Candy suggested that MAAM receive 15% per items old. The Maamarama committee will meet again and discuss the suggestions. Education: No Report Ethics: No Report Pay and Benefits: No Report Kenosha Comes Alive: There are 11 bands for the CD. Eight have paid and turned in music. There are two other possibilities. There are nine sponsors. Michael has made arrangements to have the tent set up and taken down each night and will provide lighting at Taste of Wisconsin for the CD sales. There is a possibility playing the CD at the booth. Meeting adjourned: 9:09 p.m.
