10 EIB Trade Finance Initiative Innvative SME financing Purpse: address the gap in trade finance fr SMEs. Hw? EIB prvides guarantees (n a revlving basis) t gegraphically distributed internatinal Cunterpart Banks (cnfirming banks) cvering their risk n selected issuing banks in relatin t trade finance facilities prvided t SMEs and Mid-caps. The guarantees prvide 85% cver fr several trade prducts fr bth imprts and exprts (e.g. cnfirmatin f letters f credit, advance payment guarantees, bid bnds). Status: Pilt prject fr Greece up t EUR 500m apprved in December 2012 and signed in June 2013 with Eurbank, NBG and Piraeus bank; first peratins cvered; Cyprus EUR 150m apprved; Extensin t ther prgramme cuntries underway (survey fr market-gap analysis). 11 Innvative SME financing Risk Sharing Facility fr innvative SMEs (RSI) Purpse: jint financial instrument t imprve access t debt finance fr innvative SMEs and Small Mid-caps (< 500 emplyees) in supprt f their research, develpment and innvatin (RDI) Hw? EIF prvides direct (and indirect) financial guarantees - thereby ffering capital relief - t selected financial intermediaries based n prtfli analysis and review f peratins. EIF prvides 50% guarantee n individual transactins. Initiative falls under the Risk Sharing Finance Facility (RSFF) and benefits frm EU budget allcatin. Status: jint pilt scheme launched end 2011 and rlled-ut in Cvers 12 EU MS s-far thrugh 18 cunterparties fr guaranteed amunts ver EUR 950m; +170 transactins cvered. 12 Innvative SME financing Skills fr Jbs Investing in Yuth prgramme Purpse: EU allcatin f EUR 6bn cntributin t the EU effrt t supprt yuth emplyment by imprving access t finance fr SMEs ( Investing in yuth ) and t enhance emplyability via prjects fcused n educatin, vcatinal training and student lans ( Investment in Skills ). Hw? Under the Investing in Yuth windw fr SMEs, the EIB is develping pricing incentive schemes fr SMEs and Mid-caps that cnfirm cmpliance with set criteria t hire yung peple (15-25yrs) r ffer training t yung peple. 13 SME Lan securitizatin initiatives Innvative SME financing JOINT EIB-EIF ABS fr SMEs Purpse: re-pen the market fr ABS supprted by SME lans Hw? the EIB purchases senir tranches (AAA/AA+ rated) f SME ABS ntes, which are cmplemented by EIF guarantees f similar ranking tranches purchased by third party investrs. The due diligence and rating is based n an EIB Grup internal risk assessment based f underlying prtflis and securitisatin structure. Status: first peratins expected by year-end 2013 SME initiative Aims at utilizing EIB funds tgether with available structural funds under the next Multi-annual financial framewrk in rder t supprt financing in favr f SMEs.
