1 LWCF Applicatin Infrmatin Page Applicatin Deadline - April 1st n EVEN YEARS Land and Water Cnservatin Fund (LWCF) grant awards are available t the State f Luisiana and its plitical subdivisins t acquire land fr park and recreatin areas and /r t develp and/r renvate utdr recreatin facilities. Prject spnsr eligibility is limited t plitical subdivisins r state agencies. Plitical subdivisins include parishes, cities, twns, schl districts r special assessment districts, such as recreatin districts. Nnprfit r charitable rganizatins must wrk thrugh their lcal r state agencies, parishes, cities, twns, schl districts r special assessment districts in rder t qualify fr assistance under this prgram. Private individuals and rganizatins are nt eligible fr assistance. The LWCF is funded annually thrugh the Federal budget by the United States Cngress and apprtined t states by the Department f the Interir. Administratin f the prgram within Luisiana is cnducted by the Office f State Parks (OSP), Divisin f Outdr Recreatin under agreement with the Natinal Park Service (NPS). Prjects reviewed, apprved, and selected at the state level are submitted t the NPS fr federal review and apprval. Prject prpsals must be apprved at bth the Federal and state levels. Upn NPS apprval f a prject applicatin, a state agreement is prepared by OSP and frwarded t the prject spnsr fr signature. Recreatin areas that receive Federal assistance thrugh the LWCF must remain dedicated t public utdr recreatin use in perpetuity. Prperty within the prject bundary may nt be cnverted t any use ther than utdr recreatin withut prir apprval frm the OSP and the NPS. The lcal spnsr must replace any cnverted prperty with prperty f equal r greater recreatinal value and usefulness in accrdance with Sectin 6(f) f the LWCF Act. Prject spnsrs are respnsible fr ntifying OSP f any changes in usage t assure that a cnversin is nt required. LWCF grants reimburse up t 50 percent f the cst fr land acquisitin, develpment r renvatin/restratin prjects less administrative fees. Prject ttals less than $60,000 are nt cnsidered cmpetitive. The maximum level f Federal assistance available fr a single LWCF grant is $250,000. Prject spnsrs cannt be reimbursed fr funds incurred befre an applicatin receives federal apprval and a lcal grant agreement is signed. The applicatin deadline is April 1st f each even year (2016, 2018, etc.). Applicatins must be submitted n r befre that date. Late r incmplete applicatins will nt be cnsidered. Applicatins may nt be submitted fr multiple sites.
