2 Intrductin The City f Laramie and Albany Cunty prvide funding pprtunities t lcal cmmunity partner rganizatins thrugh their annual budget making prcesses. Histrically knwn as Outside Agencies r Cmmunity Partners, rganizatins receiving municipal and/r cunty funds d nt perate within the frmal structure f city r cunty gvernments but may utilize supprt frm these gvernments t achieve their missins, r t fund special prjects. Cmmunity Partner rganizatins generally have a strng presence within the cmmunity and prvide vital services, prducts, r activities that serve t imprve the cmmunity in a variety f ways. Histrically, the rganizatins requesting funding have typically fallen within the fllwing three categries: Recreatinal/Arts and Culture: These rganizatins exist t prmte, sustain and develp recreatinal, cultural and leisure activities within the cmmunity. These rganizatins may als spnsr educatinal and cmmunity events r celebratins designed t encurage a diverse cultural and active lifestyle and prmte a strng sense f cmmunity. Example: Laramie Plains Museum and Laramie Dept Scial Services: The primary bjective f these rganizatins is t supprt r engage in activities designed t enhance the wellbeing f individuals and families within the cmmunity. These rganizatins prvide a variety f services that primarily fcus n basic human needs, access t prgrams and services designed t maintain human dignity, health and verall welfare f citizens. Example: Big Brthers-Big Sisters, Dwntwn Clinic, Interfaith-Gd Samaritan Civic Organizatins/Quasi-Gvernmental: These rganizatins have been established within ur cmmunity t A) wrk fr verall imprvement, advancement and ecnmic health thrugh civic invlvement, ecnmic develpment initiatives and thrugh fstering cmmunity spirit r B) prvide services, prgrams r ther pprtunities fr the betterment f the cmmunity thrugh the rganizatin f Jint Pwers Bards r ther Quasi-Gvernmental Organizatins that wrk cllabratively with the City f Laramie and/r Albany Cunty n shared gals, cncerns and interests.
