2 News LAUNCHING THE NEW NEWSLETTER To all members In general there are no changes to the content of the newsletter. However, as it will appear on the SAS website and Facebook, you may notice that some information has been removed for privacy reasons. The great advantage of having a monthly newsletter on line is that it will allow a large number of potential new members to see the activities of the Society and attract people to the gallery. Rather than relying on the few that keep the newsletter going please consider writing an article or submitting photographs of your activities. Your input will be greatly appreciated. If a student who has paid the casual payment opts to upgrade to full time they will be charged at the pro rata full time rate for the classes that remain scheduled for that term.

5 Pg 6 TREASURER S REPORT The SAS Committee are presented with the monthly report of the financial status of the Society. A complete report is then given at each General Meeting and is available on request from the Treasurer or Secretary. The following is a brief summary for December. Number of painting sales: 48 Painting Price Range: $30- $200 Most Frequent Sale Price: $00 (paintings included those sold during the bargain sale) Number of Craft Sales in December : 53 Craft Price Range: $3-$95 Most frequent Sale Price: $25 (craft sales included a large number of frames for the bargain sale) Major Costs: Electricity, Management and Printing/Postage charges. IMMEDIATE PAYMENT FOR ART WORK Members are reminded of the option to have payments for their art work transferred directly to their bank account. An is sent to the recipient informing them of the payment. Fifty one members have chosen this option. The form which allows you to give details of your bank account is found on the next page of the newsletter and copies are also available at the gallery. Note that a digital record of bank account details is not kept by the Treasurer. If you are still paid by cheque then please cash them as quickly as possible. After a certain time, a cheque will not be processed by the bank. Receipt of cheque payments may be delayed because of the postal service or bank processing. Unfortunately, a major problem of being paid by cheque is that there have been a number of instances where they have been lost in the post or misplaced. The treasurer is not in a position to know if this has occurred or if the person has simply not cashed the cheque. HOLDING DEPOSIT: IMMEDIATE PAYMENT OF ARTISTS As mentioned in the previous newsletter, the practice of allowing a customer to buy an art work on a lay buy basis has been replaced with a holding deposit system. As the deposit is non-refundable, the artist will receive immediate payment (less commission) and the invoice will indicate the purchase is by a holding deposit. Please Note: Gallery managers should complete the two forms when making a holding deposit sale.
