2 Frequently Asked Questions Q. Why have I been invoiced the highest fee bracket? A. All families are invoiced on the highest income bracket. Once you have provided your proof of combined family income for the 2012/2013 financial year you will receive the relevant fee remission. Q. What can I use to provide my family income? A. Proof of combined family income can be provided with one of the following documents; Centrelink income statement OR 2012/2013 financial year Notice Of Assessment issued by the Australian Taxation Office Q. What is School Card? A. The State Government offers assistance for low income families via the School Card Assistance Scheme. It is important that parents/carers work with the school to complete the necessary documentation as there are administrative cut-off dates (determined by the Department of and Children Services) that apply each term, and need to be complied with in order to receive funds for each eligible child. Being eligible for school card immediately puts you into income level A (School Card Eligible). Enquire about school card at the front office. Please be advised that 2014 forms will not be available until term 1 week 2 of Q. What are the fees on my statement? A. The composite fee is a compulsory charge on a per student basis, and covers the following items Consumables that are used by your child in class e.g. books, pens, pencils, glue, scissors, erasers, rulers, etc. Various levies that we are charged for copyright etc. Computer expenses associated with the running and maintenance of the many laptops and computers that are available for your child s use The cost of providing fruit every morning Excursions Insurance and ambulance cover These are just a few things that this levy covers. Q. What is the Capital? Is this a new charge? A. This is a fee that is charged to all Adelaide diocesan schools, by the archdioceses. No this is not a new charge, in previous years this fee was included in the composite fee. We now show this levy separately on your statement. Families who qualify for school card are exempt from this levy. Q. What is the? A. The building levy is compulsory and goes towards any building projects; this levy is tax deductible. Q. How much notice do I need to give if we are leaving the school? Will I have to pay an exit fee? A. Galilee requires one (1) terms notice for leaving students. Galilee does not charge an exit fee. We will adjust your tuition fees accordingly; the composite levy, building levy and education capital levy are not adjusted if you leave before the end of the school year.

3 Q. What if my family is experiencing financial hardship? A. The Galilee fee structure includes a range of fee concessions, including: o Family concessions (more than one student enrolled) o Fee concessions for families on low incomes o Fee concessions for families on school card Should your family be experiencing financial difficulty it is imperative that you make a time with Galilees finance officer as soon as possible. You can speak with the finance officer to discuss options available to you and arrange a payment plan. Remember we can only help you if we know you are having difficulty. Q. What if I have a balance due from 2013 fees? A. Please finalise this amount by 31 st December 2013 or arrange to have this amount added to your payment plan for Q. When are our school fees due? A. School fees are due by Friday 30 th May 2014, unless you have a payment plan in place. Q. What are my payment options for 2014? A. In 2014 Galilee Catholic School will offer the following payment options Cash EFTPOS Bpay. Biller Code Reference you will find your customer reference on the bottom left of your statement. Cheque Direct debit payment plan either from bank account or credit/debit card on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis form enclosed Centrepay payment plan are deductions direct from your centrelink payments on a fortnightly basis. 4 *unless alternative payment plan has been arranged. Book Day 2014 Fees for 2014 Galilee is happy to introduce book day for Book day will be held on Thursday 23 rd January from 8.30am to 4.00pm. Book day is provided for parents and or carers to collect their child books to take home and prepare for the school year, children will bring all books back on the first day of school, named and covered as per the instructions provided by their teacher within each bag. This is an exciting exercise for children we at Galilee believe this will give the children a greater sense of ownership of their books. In order to collect your child s books, a book day fee of $50.00 per student is payable on or before book day this will be credited to your first statement in If your family is away on this day you will be able to pick up books on the first day of term from 8.30am. If you fit one of the below criteria you will be exempt from paying the fee on book day You were eligible for school card in 2013 this fee will be waived. You already have a direct debit agreement or enter into an direct debit agreement on book day Fees In order for Galilee Catholic School to meet its financial obligations in 2014, the School Board has approved a 4% increase on tuition fees, composite and building levies. Fees are billed at the beginning of the year and payable by Friday 30 th May 2014, unless there is a payment plan in place. Please be advised that any fees associated with debt collection will be added to your account and are payable by the family in debt collection. Sibling discounts apply to the second and third children as listed below, there is no tuition fee charged to 4 th child or more, however they will pay the and capital.
