4 FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) Parental right to their child s educational record transfers to the student once they are at Winthrop. Students must grant access to parents, it is not something that parents can just have Assist students/parents with account questions Must have signed Release of Student Records Form for parent or other person requesting information regarding the student s account. Authorized Users Anyone whom a student wishes to give online access of their financial student account, make payments on behalf of student, sign up on payment plans Students can enroll users during their registration sessions later on *Reminder: All communication regarding payment deadlines, cancellation of classes, etc. will be done via the students Winthrop address only. Please remind your student to check their on a regular basis. Billing Statements Winthrop participates in paperless billing!! Students will receive an ebill about a month before the Fall Payment Deadline Students also receive a monthly ebill if they have an outstanding balance Students on a Payment Plan will get additional reminders of upcoming payment due dates

9 Fee Payment Deadline August 11 th 2:00PM Important Things to Remember Satisfactory Payment Arrangements include: You have made payment in full. You have enrolled in a payment plan and submitted the required first payment. Your financial aid has been accepted and the total of accepted* aid covers your fees. You have met the requirements for the GI Bill or other veteran benefits. You have submitted any Third Party Sponsorship to Student Accounts Receivable (20 Tillman) reminders and notices of cancellation are sent ONLY to the student s official Winthrop . CHECK OFTEN! Make sure students sign you up as an Authorized User if you intend on assisting them through the fee payment and billing process If you have special payment situations, it is your responsibility to notify our office well in advance of the fee payment deadline Unpaid balances will result in a registration and transcript hold on the students account until paid. DO NOT WAIT UNTIL AUGUST 11 TH to discuss issues with your balance!! If you plan to apply for Parent Plus loans or Private loans, we ask that you do that apply before July 31 st to allow time for the funds to be reflected on your account before payment is due. Financial Aid awards on your bill are only considered anticipated until the student has accepted them and satisfied all the requirements necessary to receive the funds. Students are responsible for the balance if those requirements are not met.
