From adult art glass camps to member and private events, custom work and Studio projects, we ve been busy in the shared pursuit of all things glass. We had a lot of fun exploring and refining the various techniques we learned in Las Vegas as well as refreshing some traditional methods. This time last year, we were primed to launch the Studio after a long summer of renovation and planning. What a difference a year makes! 2 Summer highlights Between workshops, courses, and adult art class camps, we ve been channeling our energy into some large installation projects Things have been going swimmingly If you ve visited us since our members Mother s Day tea, you may have noticed that Elizabeth s fishscape glass block window inserts have been incorporated into the Studio office space. Nine interlocking blocks of multi- layered swimming fish have added privacy to our office without sacrificing light. It was very satisfying to finally tear down that paper! Between creating custom birdbaths, tabletops, wall sculptures, and workshop samples for the Fall session, Elizabeth has been building up her inventory of finished work for a Spotlight solo show at the end of December. The largest, a six panel leaded window project, is rendered in clear textures and showcases familiar icons of the Canadian cottage landscape. If you ve been in- Studio lately, you ll have seen Melanie speedily, yet expertly executing the panels to meet her clients deadline. The funkiest project was a custom tile and hardware order to complement a kitchen decked out in fuchsia lacquer and eucalyptus wood cabinetry. 2

Food drive Thanks so much to all the members who participated in our social events this season. Your generous contributions to our food drive have raised over 80- lbs./36 kg of food for the Markham food bank.
