10 Report on our Committees First a word on Volunteerism Origin: 1600, "one who offers himself for military service," from Middle French voluntaire, "one who volunteers," also as an adjective, "voluntary," from Latin voluntarius "voluntary, of one's free will," as a plural noun "volunteers. Non-military sense is first recorded 1630s. As an adjective from 1640s. Tennessee has been the Volunteer State since the Mexican War, when a call for 2,800 volunteers brought out 30,000 men. We don t need 30,000 but we could use a few! Many thanks to all those who volunteered during 2016!

12 Social Committee Chair Aimee Curley The Social Committee had a very fun year in The kids had a spring party, a Halloween party and have the Christmas party coming soon. Also, the 5th Annual Cheshire Forest Youth Triathlon was a huge success. For the adults- there were plenty of activities including the Brew and Stew, 4th of July picnic, the Adult Bash, and a Chili Cook off. The remainder of 2016: November 24, Thanksgiving 9am: Food Drive and Jog * NEW November 30, Wednesday 7pm: Decorating the Clubhouse and Cookie Exchange December 11, 2-4pm: Sunday Children's Christmas Party December 31, Saturday 7pm: Cheshire NYE Party

14 Neighborhood Watch Program encourages neighbors to join crime prevention efforts within their individual neighborhoods. The program is dependent on neighbors becoming personally involved and committed. Al Crouch and Al Jacobs, Co-Chairs, since Currently have 28 Block Captains throughout the neighborhood. Special Thanks to all of the volunteers! Hosts a National Night Out event every August! Actively participates with Chesapeake Crime Prevention Council (CCPC). Utilizes Nextdoor to post crime/safety updates. Includes an article in each Cheshire Chat. Welcomes volunteers!

15 Newsletter The "Cheshire Chat Newsletter produced quarterly Copies delivered via USPS, with electronic copy posted to Nextdoor, Smartstreet and CheshireForest.org Community issues, upcoming social events Input is welcomed, advertising space available Ann Dumenigo, Committee Chair

16 Pool Committee Duties: Point of contact for residents on pool use. Liaison with Swim Team for pool scheduling. Publishes Annual Pool Rules (Cheshire Chat). Coordinates pool requirements with Management. Assists with pool pass issuance. Maintained poolside furniture and entertainment equipment. Conducted research on pool management contracts.
