2 Caros Amigos, Bem vindos à Moçambique The Netherlands will participate in this years 53rd edition of the Maputo International Trade Fair, also known as the FACIM. We want to showcase what Dutch companies and knowledge institutions have to offer to Mozambique. It will be a great follow up after the successful Netherlands-Mozambique business Forum that took place in May in the presence of H.E. President Nyusi. At the FACIM international and national companies, investors and entrepreneurs meet to join Mozambican growth. Last year 16 Dutch companies were represented at FACIM with individual and shared stands. The Netherlands Embassy would like to facilitate your company s participation in the Dutch Pavilion and will host a Holland Lounge that creates an open space for networking. The Netherlands Embassy will also organise match-making and (thematic) workshops for Dutch companies and investors. You are kindly invited to participate. 3 1. FACIM Information FACIM is the Maputo International Trade Fair, an important meeting point for international and national companies, producers, investors, importers, exporters and entrepreneurs. It is a multi-sectorial event that marks its 53 rd anniversary promoting business, commercial activities, stimulating production and consumption and further integrating Mozambique in the world economy. The International trade fair takes place once a year and attracts a lot of attention from investors, national and international companies as well as from the government. The exhibition and infrastructure area available is about 20,000 sqm of uncovered area and sqm of covered area. It has 9 pavilions being: Nachingweia, Matchedje, GwazaMuthini, Chai, Kongwa, Tunduru, Moçambique, Ricatla and Cepagri which accommodate the countries, foreign, national companies and government institutions. There are two programmes at FACIM. There is the general programme organised by MIC/IPEX, the lead organizer of FACIM, and there will be a Holland Lounge programme, which is a mixture of participant and Embassy initiatives. The general time schedule for the FACIM is as follows: Monday to Thursday 09:00 am 18:00 pm Friday to Sunday 09:00 am 19:00 pm The Official Opening by the President of Mozambique will be on Monday the 28 th of August in the morning. The following days various ministers will visit the fair and meet the companies. Furthermore, missions, conferences, lectures, meeting points and workshops are scheduled for the whole FACIM week. The Holland Lounge programme manages several network- and small-scale events so that matchmaking, partnerships, information provision and workshops are facilitated. A hospitable ambiance will attract external companies and parties. In line with the general FACIM registration criteria, a company can register via the Embassy until Friday the 16 th of June Holland Branding The Holland Lounge provides an open space for networking and promotes the Netherlands through Holland Branding. Brochures and leaflets about Private Sector Development (PSD) instruments, Dutch businesses and trade relations between the Netherlands and Mozambique will be displayed. The activities for the Holland Lounge will be coordinated with the Embassy sectors, participating companies and incoming missions. Several small-scale events, workshops, a network cocktail, seminars and meetings are hosted, whereby Dutch firms and the Netherlands in general are promoted. At the previous FACIM edition the Holland Lounge was visited by the President of Mozambique, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Transport and Communication and various top business figures. The Dutch Pavillion and the Holland Lounge attracted considerable press coverage. 3

4 The Holland Lounge functions as a central meeting point for promotional activities and networking. Water seminar at the Holland Lounge Main activities organised in the lounge are: Matchmaking; Presentation of the Embassy s Aid and Trade programme (Water, Food Security and Health); Several workshops: creating common ground for companies/parties in the same sector; Promotion of Private Sector Development (PSD) instruments (DRIVE, MMF and DGGF); Displaying Dutch company brochures; Holland Day with Business Network Cocktail; Holland promotion through videos and images; Coffee corner. Top Sectors The Dutch Pavillion will be organized according to four priority sectors that have been identified for enhanced Trade and Investment relations between Mozambique and the Netherlands. These Sectors are: Energy Agro-food Water & Maritime Health and Life sciences The Embassy has an extensive network and know-how in these sectors and is therefore well positioned to provide assistance in these areas. 4

5 4. Participant Criteria, Registration and Prices Participation is open to all Dutch companies independent of the fact whether the company is established abroad or in Mozambique. The Dutch company should satisfy one of the following criteria: Visiting company from the Netherlands; Dutch company with registered offices in Mozambique; Mozambican company with Dutch investments; Local company managed by Dutch citizens; Dutch company in Southern- and/or Eastern African region. Furthermore, participation at the FACIM requires each company to pay for its participation costs. The costs involved are: Travel and accommodation; Reservation of the stand and company branding; Taxes related to the temporary import of materials and equipment; Other individual costs; Full advance payment of the company stand and branding costs (individual or shared) are requested. The Holland Lounge will be financed entirely by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, as will the network cocktail on the Holland Day. Transport to FACIM, if required, can be arranged by the Embassy. In line with the general FACIM registration criteria, a company can register via the Embassy until the 16 th of June The necessary information for registration is attached in the registration form which is placed in the annex of this brochure. The prices for participation vary, depending on the company s wishes. See below a short overview of the indicative prices. 6 The shared stands with Company Branding. Companies will be requested to supply the Artwork as shown below. Each stand includes desk, chairs, brochure stand, extra lights, plasma screen and a cupboard. The list of available equipment can be provided upon request. 7 5. Previous Editions FACIM The last five editions clearly show an upward trend in the number of participating foreign and domestic companies. The number of visitors also increased considerably over the past six editions from 60,200 in 2011 to 92,689 in Despite Mozambique s economic situation, the number of companies participated in the 2016 edition increased to 3,760. It is expected that with the recent investments and new developments in the oil and gas sector, a more stable investment climate and the continuing economic potential of Mozambique, the number of companies participating in the fair will increase Countries Foreign companies National companies Total companies Visitors Survey on 2016 participation A survey made by the Embassy in 2016 revealed that 70% of the Dutch companies participating in the trade fair were satisfied with the support given by Embassy during the event. The exposure of the Holland brand and company brand in the stand is rated high with 80% of the companies thinking that the exposure of their brand was excellent or good. In overall, the companies were very satisfied with the price they paid for the facilities they received, the good opportunities for networking and for potential partners for doing business in Mozambique. Of course some improvements will be made in the 2017 edition. 7. Embassy Assistance The Embassy coordinates the participation of companies and liaise with organiser MIC/IPEX regarding participant s registration and the exhibition. The Embassy s role will be to: Organise the registration process; Support with visa application; Make reservations for accommodation at Hotel Terminus/Southern Sun; Organise transportation to and from FACIM facilities in Ricatla, Marracuene; Coordinate branding of the Holland Lounge, Top Sector booths and individual company booths; Organise the network cocktail on Tuesday the 29 th of August and guest list; 7

8 Coordinate the schedule for the participation during the week, including embassy staff participation; Assist with contacts and matchmaking. 8. Location FACIM is located at Ricatla which is approximately 35 kilometers from Maputo. The exhibition grounds can be reached through the N1 and the New Circular. Using the Circular takes about 30 minutes by car. The FACIM accommodates 12 different pavilions and an open area for exhibition; the European Pavillion in which the Dutch Pavillion is located is named Nachingwea hall. 9.
