Fr yu t cntinue t qualify fr the in- state tuitin rate, yu must becme a "resident fr tuitin purpses." In rder t establish yur residency fr tuitin purpses under state statute F.S , yu must apply t UF t reclassify yur residency. This invlves a request fr residency reclassificatin and supprting dcumentatin after 12 mnths f residing in Flrida. When yu first mve t Gainesville, yu establish residency by severing all legal ties t anther state and declaring dmicile at yur new hme, getting a FL driver's license r ID card, registering t vte, registering yur vehicle, and/r purchasing a hme. Accrding t the Gelgy Graduate Student Handbk, if yu're eligible but dn't apply t becme a resident fr tuitin purpses, yu will be respnsible fr the difference between ut- f- state and in- state fees (currently ~$700 difference) and pssibly als fr differences in tuitin. Yu can nly request residency reclassificatin fr a term in which yu are enrlled; i.e., if yu're nt enrlled in Summer A, B, r C credits, yu have t wait until yu're enrlled in Fall t reclassify yur residency.
