Activity news: We are welcoming Zumba for Classes will run on Thursdays from 6pm-7pm. Our Instructor Kellie is super excited to bring Zumba to the Zillmere PCYC! So come on down, bring your friends and enjoy fitness with flare. Hip Hop/ Jazz classes are back for Hip Hop and Jazz classes are for children aged 6-12 yrs. Hip Hop runs from 4 4:45pm and Jazz runs from 5-5:45pm on Wednesdays during the school term. Come and meet our new Instructor Tori. Kindy Kidz and Wonky Walkers are also back for First class is Tuesday 14 th February. Kindy Kidz is for children aged 2-5yrs and Wonky Walkers is for children aged 1-2yrs. Classes run during the school term on Tuesdays and Fridays. See timetable for times. Club Member of the Month (January) Congratulations to Anne. Anne has been nominated by Jen Currie, the Director of Stay Strong PT. Anne has been extremely focused on her health and fitness weight loss journey. Since joining the Zillmere PCYC and also Personal Training with Stay Strong PT, Anne has been focused, always smiling and friendly and 100% committed to her goal. Anne has 8 kids and has decided that NOW is the time for her. Volunteers Wanted Zillmere PCYC is looking for motivated volunteers to join our team. Duties include reception/front desk, administration work, setting up activities and assisting members and the public. If you have excellent communication skills and a passion for enhancing youth development in your community, then we want to hear from you! I wanted to start the year with a bit of education and a recipe of my own for you to enjoy. 80% of results start in the fridge and when you are trying to increase your muscle increase the weight not the reps. Aim to choose foods with less than 10g of sugar. Have a balanced eating lifestyle The secret to "fat loss" is to eat more regularly and smaller portions. This allows your body to process the food in a manageable way and keep your sugar levels balanced. If you have a massive meal your sugar levels rise and your body is working overtime to process that food. Especially if that food is high in sugar and saturated fats. For example: Everyone knows what happens on Christmas Day, we all "overindulge". After our big meal all we want to do is sleep, this is because our body has to use all of its energy to process all of the foods. This is why it is recommended to eat 5-6 small portions per day. The key is to find a balance for yourself which included your food intake, exercise and mindfulness. 3 Youth and Community Development Programs By Emily Bianchi (Community Development Officer) Joining our Youth Management Team here at the PCYC is a great way to get involved with the community, meet new friends, develop your skills and attended a number of fun and exciting large scale events. Our team have recently volunteered to sell programs at Suncorp Stadium and received free tickets to the Roar vs Wanderers game. We have also raised money for camps and activities, getting together with other local groups over the school holidays for a swim at Redcliffe Lagoon. We have a number of upcoming volunteer opportunities, as well as social outings. New members are welcome any time. Call Emily (Community Development Officer) to find out more, or to get involved.
