18 Salary and Payslip Salary is at disposal at the very last banking day of the month Tax is deducted before the salary is paid out to you Register with SKAT (tax authorities) in advance (if not, you ll be taxed 55%!!) Bank account: You need a (Danish) bank account which your salary will be transferred into Your payslip will be sent to your digital mailbox a few days in advance of the salary payment Pension: You and AU pay contributions to pension through the wage, % of wage (17.10 % of 85 % of wage for PhDs) 18

20 Coverage by AU insurances while working at AU AU Employee and Guests: AU covers you in case you sustain an injury on the job Insurance covering travel on official business You are covered against acute illness while working abroad for AU Ask for the AU Travel Insurance Card see link in the follow up NOTICE: You are not covered by AU-insurances in periods where you have registered to be on vacation! Guests are only covered by the AU travel insurance if they have part of their travel expenses covered by AU. EU/EEA citizen (and accompanying partners and children of EU-citizens) : Covered if you have a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). Contact Citizen service (or ICS) in your Danish municipality to order an EHIC See 21

22 Working hours for employees with a contract with AU 37 hours a week = full time position Usually you are not entitled to overtime pay Normally half an hour paid lunch break is included in the 37 weekly working hours 6 weeks of paid holiday Sickness: Normally full pay during sickness Sickness of children: Paid leave for the first two days of sickness of a child 23

Public transport (bus, train, metro) or APP to find connections from A to B Local and regional transport (bus / commuter trains) Buy a 10-trip bus pass ( klippekort ) valid for both regional trains and busses Possible to buy tickets (cash only, no credit cards) on busses, but not on trains Penalty fees: 750 DKK! Monthly pass (periodekort) (bus / commuter trains) DKK 365 (travel within the city) for 30 days Buy at Aarhus Bus Station See 26

26 How do I get around Aarhus and DK? National connections (train/bus): (trains), DSB APP or (bus). Buy tickets in advance (online), seat reservations are recommended Rejsekortet the travel card for all public transport: Buy it at Most affordable to use in Copenhagen area and for travel across the country Rejsekort is an electronic ticketing system for travelling by bus, train and metro. Be like a Dane get a bike Bike rentals, police auctions or buy a new bike at a cheap price at large convenience stores. 27
