5 Module and Course Registration To register for modules and courses, unregister or change your registration: campusnet.jacobs-university.de Registration deadline: September 1, 2016 Drop / Add: September 10, September 15, 2016 No changes are possible in your module and course registration after the drop/add deadline!

6 Major Changes (Undergraduates only) first two weeks of the semester: write to after that: major change form (only if no late add/drop is necessary!) Important: Please return your old enrollment confirmations.

7 Excuse from Academic Obligations Excuses from academic obligations will be granted for no other reasons than sickness, health or personal emergency. There are strict rules in order to be officially excused You will be informed via and you can find the regulations in the policies Sick notes must be dropped into the Student Records Office s mailbox. Please don t forget to write the name of the instructor(s) on the backside of the medical excuse

9 Health Insurance You must have valid health insurance at all times during enrollment (even during leave of absence, internship, summer break, etc.) If you don t have valid insurance or if you have stopped paying for it, we will restrict or cancel your student status

10 Public Health Insurance coverage irrespective of the cost of the treatment a uniform contribution rate of around 80 a month free co-insurance for family members Doctors directly balance their accounts with health insurance fund.

11 EU Insurance (European Health Insurance Card) Students with EHIC, as well as students insured by the public health insurance in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Macedonia, Turkey and Tunisia do not need to be insured by a German public insurance You can switch between the EHIC and a German public insurance at any time

12 Private Health Insurance Please provide us with a dispensation from the public health insurance (issued by a public health insurance company). prerequisites for a dispensation: coverage for the full time of your studies in Germany no restrictions regarding the covered amount when in outpatient and inpatient treatment coverage corresponding to the German public health insurance

14 Residence Permit Non-EU students require a residence permit Your permit must be valid at all times during your studies If you stay outside of Germany for more than 6 months it will become invalid It gives you many rights, among others: the right to work 120 full days or 240 half days a year the right to travel and reside for up to 3 months in the whole Schengen area without additional documents

15 Residence Permit Application You will receive an with instructions about how to fill out the residence permit applicaton today You will need to go in person to the Foreigner s office and submit your application. You will receive an with a link to select an appointment for your residence permit application. The appointments will be in October. Once the residence permit is ready, we ll collect it for you

16 Registration with local authorities All students need to register with the local authorities The registration is a prerequisite for the residence permit application In case that you did not fill out the registration form upon arrival on campus, please visit the BürgerServiceCenter-Nord and bring the following documents with you: Registration form ( Anmeldung ) Wohnungsgeberbestätigung (issued by your landlord) ID/Passport and Copy of your ID/Passport
