1 CU NEWS SPRING EDITION BOARD OF DIRECTORS Francis Tsunezumi Chairman Katherine Hirayama Vice Chairperson Eric Tanouye Financial Officer Steven Hironaka Secretary Dr. Donn Ouye Takashi Sasaki Toby Taniguchi Come Celebrate Member Appreciation Day on April 28th! We want to be your primary full-service financial institution today and for many years to come. SUPERVISORY COMMITTEE: The Supervisory Committee is the watchdog group for members. They oversee the audits and internal controls of the credit union. If you have a concern or comment for the Supervisory Committee, feel free to write them at: CU Hawaii FCU Supervisory Committee P. O. Box 6494 Hilo, HI *While supplies last. One entry per primary membership for the grand prize drawing. Multiple entries at multiple branches will not be considered in the final grand prize drawings. Only one grand prize winner per branch. Annual Membership Business Meeting All members are invited to attend the Annual Business Meeting which will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017, at the Hilo branch lobby located at 476 Hinano Street in Hilo. The meeting will begin promptly at 5:30 pm. If you are unable to attend, a copy of the 2016 Annual Report will be posted on our Web site under About Us. 2 WHAT'S NEW... with Online Banking Pending transactions history enhanced in Online Banking! Members are enjoying the benefits of our new MasterCard Debit Card You may have noticed something new and improved when you log into online banking on our website, Back in late February 2017, we enhanced your online banking experience. No more viewing your pending transactions by clicking through a different menu selection area. Now, your pending transactions will automatically display at the top of the transaction history page. If you have any questions, call us at (808) or stop by any CU Hawaii branch location. CU Hawaii checking account members have now been issued their new MasterCard Debit Card with chip technology. Embedded in every card is a microprocessor chip that creates a unique transaction code that is used only once when a new transaction is performed. This unique feature helps prevent stolen data from being fraudulently used. With your new MasterCard Debit Card you can get cash at over two million ATMs worldwide. In Hawaii, you can use your card at all CU Hawaii owned ATMs at no charge. You can also use your card, surcharge free, at all First Hawaiian Bank or American Savings Bank ATMs statewide. Your new card also comes with many new benefits such as, ID Theft Protection, Extended Warranty, and Price Protection. Don t have a MasterCard Debit Card? Stop by any CU Hawaii branch to open your checking account and order your MasterCard Debit Card. You will receive your card in 7 10 days and you can start enjoying the convenience and safety of your chip embedded debit card.
3 Loan Rates are starting to Move Upward! Take advantage of CU Hawaii s low rates while they last! If you are in the market for a personal, auto or credit card loan you may want to get your application completed and submitted into CU Hawaii, sooner rather than later. The Federal Reserve has raised the overnight interest rate twice in the past 3 months and a third rate increase is anticipated to be announced by the Federal Reserve in June MEMBER REWARDS Some financial institutions are already cutting back on personal loan rate specials and raising their consumer loan rates. Credit card and auto loan rates are also starting to slowly trend upward. CU Hawaii still has some of the lowest personal and auto loan rates around. LOAN TYPE Personal Loan AS LOW AS 2.99% APR* New Auto Loan Used Auto Loan 1.49% APR* 1.99% APR* Need a credit card? Apply for our MasterCard Platinum Plus card with a low 9.00% APR*. With our MasterCard Platinum Plus card, you will earn Reward points redeemable towards travel reimbursement or the purchase of very popular gift cards. There are a number of convenient ways to complete your loan application. You can complete an online application on our website at or complete a loan application through our Mobile App on your smart phone or tablet. If you need assistance, feel free to stop by any of our branch locations and speak with one of our friendly member service representatives. *APR= Annual Percentage Rate. Other rates and terms are available. Certain restrictions apply. Member must qualify under CU Hawaii membership and lending guidelines. Offer may end at anytime without notice. FEDERALLY INSURED BY NCUA. When it is time to shop for that new set of wheels you always try to cut the best deal you can. That s smart. But before you hit the dealer s lot, get pre-approved at CU Hawaii first. Getting pre-approved before you go shopping can put up to $300 cash into your pocket with CU Hawaii s Member Rewards* program. Our current auto rates are as low as 1.49% annual percentage rate. Now that s a good way to start a deal! Being pre-approved gives you bargaining power. No stress over trying to second guess what you can afford and what the payment would be each month. As a CU Hawaii member you deserve to be rewarded! *Member must qualify under CU Hawaii s lending guidelines. Member must have CU Hawaii membership of 12-months or longer to qualify for Member Rewards program. Member must get pre-approved before shopping for a new or used vehicle. Some restrictions may apply.
