4 COMMUNITY PAGE Toys for Tots 2016 Every year CU Hawaii participates in the Toys for Tots program was no different. There was a Toys for Tots box setup in the lobby of every CU Hawaii branch location. In the spirit of giving, members and CU Hawaii employees made donations of new toys. This year a special toy collection day was held at CU Hawaii s Puainako branch out side of the KTA Super Store. Mini Miss Tropical Island Beauty Aspen Taylor Hanohano, Little Miss Tropical Island Beauty Kailena Needham, and Miss Junior Teen Tropical Island Beauty Tatia Denis-McRight spent several hours assisting CU Hawaii in collecting toys. This was our best year ever. Nearly 200 toys were collected and turned over to the Toys for Tots program coordinator. However, these ladies were not done yet. The next weekend these lovely ladies, joined by Tropical Island Beauty Jr. Teen First Princess Lehia Coloma, helped to collect slippers for children in need. CU Hawaii was very pleased to make a contribution to this program that helped to fill three CU Hawaii bags with nearly 100 new children s slippers. Special Olympics East Hawaii During the month of October 2016, CU Hawaii raised $2, for Special Olympics East Hawaii. Thanks to the generosity of our members and staff our Hawaii Island athletes have a better chance of getting over to Oahu for the Special Olympic Games. CU Hawaii Employee Anniversaries Shandelere Queja Stella Brown Shandelere just celebrated her 10th year with CU Hawaii. On November 1, 2006, she started her career as a Member Service Representative at our Hilo branch located on Hinano Street. Shandelere currently holds the position of Assistant Operations Supervisor. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family. Stella joined CU Hawaii on November 27, 2006 as an Accounting Clerk I at our Hilo branch office in the accounting department. Stella has an Associate in Accounting and her Bookkeeping Certificate. Stella currently holds the position of Data Entry Specialist. In her free time she spends time with her family and enjoys those special moments with her grandchildren. Natasha Paglinawan-Po a Natasha also joined CU Hawaii on November 27, 2006 as an Accounting Clerk I at the Hilo branch. She holds a degree in Liberal Arts. Natasha recently moved to the IT/Facilities department as a Data Entry Specialist. She participated in the 2016 Hilo Heart Walk and the Relay for Life. Besides enjoying her family, in her spare time she participates in Tahitian and boxing.
