State of Hawai`i Payroll Changes to Impact Credit Union Deductions CU Hawaii has been informed that effective immediately all employees that currently work for the State of Hawaii will need to update their direct deposit information. The State of Hawaii is moving to a new system and the prior information cannot be automatically transferred into the new portal system. On the old State system, a credit union deduction was a method of splitting up your pay and routing those portions to unique credit union accounts. For example, these could be deposits into your special savings or making a loan payment. In the new Hawaii Information Portal (HIP) payroll system, credit union deductions are referred to as direct deposits. There is no limit to the number of direct deposits you can make or the type of financial institution you can direct them to. Important information you need to know to assist you when you set up your direct deposit is listed below: CU Hawaii Routing Number: Your Membership Number Select either savings or checking Indicate your allocations by preferred priority If you are a retired State of Hawaii employee, it is important to know that this new State payroll system will not affect you. Please take the time to review your CU Hawaii direct deposit(s) to ensure that your selection(s) properly hit your account or loan. If you see something improper, please call us immediately at or toll free at , so that we may assist you.

Negotiate your trade in and any dealer rebates. Now you can provide your CU Hawaii preapproved loan to close the deal. Loan rates around the island are starting to rise. However, CU Hawaii s auto loan rates remain low giving members more buying power. New auto loan rates are as low as 1.49% APR* and our used auto loan rates are as low as 1.99% APR*. 5 Community Corner American Heart & Stroke Walk On March 10th, 2018 CU Hawaii came out in force to support the annual American Heart & Stroke Walk held in Hilo. This year s walk moved from Liliuokalani Park to Bay Front. Over 30 CU Hawaii employees raised money and walked for a very good cause. Also, a team of CU Hawaii employees got up well before sunrise to run the registration table and collect donations from the many corporate and personal teams that participated in this year s walk. Kids Day at KTA Puainako Bring the entire family to the Kids Day event being held on June 9, 2018 at the Puainako KTA. The fun starts at 10:00 am and will run through 2:00 pm. CU Hawaii will have many fun games set up for the Keiki to play and win prizes. Every Keiki is invited to enter to win a pack of 4 movie passes good at any Regal Theater. It s time to Get REAL at Waiakea High School The Get REAL Financial Reality Fair is a fun, hands-on way for students and young adults to learn about managing personal finances. CU Hawaii sponsored the first ever reality fair at Waiakea High School on March 29, CU Hawaii recruited many of our Hilo community leaders as volunteers along with Waiakea High School teachers and a dozen employees from the credit union to role play and assist the students in making decisions about everyday expenses and provided advice to keep the students on budget. A total of 78 students enter the reality fair and pick their profession of choice. From that moment on, each 17 or 18 year old would become a 24 year old adult with a selected career and started their life journey. There were 16 tables to visit and each table brought the following life changes: A 700 credit score that could fluctuate up or down during the journey Purchasing of a home vs. renting an apartment Daily living expenses; such as groceries, insurance They could apply for a loan adding to their monthly debt Apply for a part-time job to meet expenses The Wheel of Reality exposed everyone to random unexpected events such as, major car repair, replacement of a major appliance or maybe a new baby has arrived on the scene Finally the last stop, the Financial Advisor would review their worksheet to see how they did and discussed the choices they made. Bottom line, the students learned how to balance their needs vs. wants to stay within their budget. By the end of the two and a half hour event, their eyes were wide open to the reality of life. At CU Hawaii we are committed to financial education at every level. Get ready Waiakea High School we will be back next year. Copyright 2018 CU Hawaii Federal Credit Union.
