Gifts and Grants Be It Resolved That: The Hudson City School District Board of Education Accept the following gifts: 1. $ Middle School Orchestra anonymous donation. 2. $ Hudson Middle School and East Woods Media Centers in honor of Jeff Hildebrand and Ms. Becky Ulrich, Mr. Jeff Lehman, P.O. Box 725, Hudson, OH Vote: Mrs. Engelman, Mr. Field, Mr. Mushock, Mr. Zuro, Mr. DiMauro VIII. Reports and/or Recommendations of the Superintendent Mr. Steve Farnsworth A. Retire/Rehire Be It Resolved That: The Hudson City School District Board of Education accept the resignation of the following individuals, submitted for purposes of initiating earned retirement benefits, effective as of the end of the work day on June 30, Administrators Be It Further Resolved That: The Hudson City School District Board of Education employ Mark Leventhal as McDowell Principal, Supervisor of Special Services commencing on August 1, 2013 and ending on July 31, Such employment shall be in accordance with such terms and conditions as are set forth in Mr. Leventhal s current written contract; provided, however that the annual salary to be paid under such contract shall be $78,750, which is 75% of his current salary, and provided further that such employment shall be subject to other terms and conditions as set forth in Board Policy. Be It Further Resolved That: The Hudson City School District Board of Education employ Chuck Schilling as Supervisor of Facility Services, commencing on July 1, 2013 and ending on June 30, Such employment shall be in accordance with such terms and conditions as are set forth in Mr. Schilling s current written contract ; provided, however that the annual salary to be paid under such contract shall be $66,459, which is 75% of his current salary, and provided further that such employment shall be subject to other terms and conditions as set forth in Board Policy. Teachers Be It Further Resolved That: The Hudson City School District Board of 2

3 Education employ the following individuals in the positions as listed, commencing on August 19, 2013 and ending on June 5, Such employment shall be in accordance with such terms and conditions as are set forth in article XVII of the Negotiated Agreement between the Hudson Education Association and the Hudson City School District Board of Education at salaries listed. Provided further that such employment shall be subject to other terms and conditions as set forth in Board Policy. Personnel - Retirements WHEREAS, these individuals will retire after many years of dedicated service to the Hudson City School District; and WHEREAS, these individuals have successfully contributed to the education of hundreds of students during these many years; BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that the Board of Education of the Hudson City School District commends these individuals for their outstanding commitment to the pursuit of excellence in the Hudson Schools; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said Board of Education extends to these individuals its best wishes for an abundance of happiness and continued success as they enter this new phase of their lives. SB 165 Requirements Board Resolution to Comply with SB 165 Requirements for Local End-of-Course Examinations in American History and American Government Incorporating Study of Historical Documents Whereas, Senate Bill 165 of the 129th General Assembly, effective June 29, 2012, required the State Board of Education to incorporate into the social studies standards for grades four to twelve academic content regarding the original texts of the Declaration of Independence, the Northwest Ordinance, the Constitution of the United States and its amendments, with emphasis on the Bill of Rights, and the Ohio Constitution, and their original context; and Whereas, Senate Bill 165 also required the State Superintendent of Public Instruction and the Chancellor of the Board of Regents to select, by July 1, 2014, end-of-course examinations in American History and American Government that demonstrate the mastery of the American History and American Government content relating to these historical documents, at least 20% of which address the study of such historical documents; and Whereas, prior to such adoption of statewide end-of-course examinations, each individual school district board of education is required, by July 1, 2013, to adopt interim end-of-course examinations that comply with the foregoing requirements; Therefore Be It Resolved pursuant to the requirements of Senate Bill 165 and Section of the Ohio Revised Code, that this Board of Education hereby approves and adopts interim end-of-course examinations in American History and American Government, which examinations shall comply with the requirements of Senate Bill 165 and the amendments therein for demonstration of content mastery relating to the original texts of the Declaration of Independence, the Northwest Ordinance, the Constitution of the United States and its amendments, with emphasis on the Bill of Rights, and the Ohio Constitution; and Be It Further Resolved that the Superintendent is hereby directed to take any and all steps necessary to implement this resolution so that the required interim end-ofcourse examinations will be in place for utilization during the school year. Maintenance Vehicle Replacement Be It Resolved That: The Business Manager recommends board approval to purchase three (3) replacement maintenance vehicles for a combined price of $52, from Montrose Ford using the permanent improvement fund. The price for each vehicle is the same or lower than a comparable vehicles that are available on State Term Schedules bid through the Ohio Department of Administrative Services. Roof Renovation and Replacement Be It Resolved That: The Business Manager recommends board approval of the following summer roofing projects with Weatherproofing Technologies, Inc. using permanent improvement funds at a total cost of $425,996. The pricing for these projects is established on State Term Schedule bid through the Ohio Department of Administrative Services. Security Entrances Be It Resolved That: The Business Manager recommends board approval to contract with CACM Solutions for design-build services to construct new security entrances at Hudson High School and East Woods Elementary school. Included in this project are the main and auditorium entrances at Hudson High School; a new main entrance and the natatorium entrance at East Woods Elementary. The total not to exceed amount for this contract is $653,054. The final contract document will be presented for signature within the next 7 business days.
