3 Benefits Committee Our Goal for the Benefits Committee Goals will be to help assure current insurance benefits are appropriately structured and financed to support institutional needs, including recruiting and retaining faculty and staff. And to control claims and not have employee premium increase for !!! 3

5 Benefits Committee Medical Plan Financials Year to Date While still early in the plan year, January through July total claims have realized a slight increase of +0.7% on a per member per month basis over calendar year 2014 Medical claims decreased slightly by -0.1% while pharmacy costs increased by 3.8% Of the top 15 high cost claimants, 8 are cancers, and 2 were liveborns (babies born either prematurely or with complications). Total paid for the top 15 was $4.2M (14% of total spend YTD). None have exceeded the $450K stop loss. The average gross plan cost per employee is $11,413 for the first 7 months of 2015; the MHBT book of business norm is $10, % of medical claims have been paid at an In-Network provider resulting in an average 54.4% discount level (equates to $ per member per month in savings) 5

7 2015 Tasks for 2016 Plan Year Biometric Screening Biometric Screening and Health Assessment Current employees: Have physician form or lab voucher completed by 10/30/15 and Take online Health Assessment by 10/30/15 using your screening results New employees: Complete requirements within 60 days of insurance enrollment Have physician form or lab voucher completed, and Take online Health Assessment using you screening results Compliance required. Otherwise, employee will be assessed a $20 surcharge per employee and/or spouse per paycheck in 2016 and thereafter 7

8 Wellness Initiatives Employee Open Swim Program Participation has averaged 14 people a day Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 4:30 to 7:30PM Employee Flu Shots Onsite flu shots for employees and dependents No cost for those employees covered under FBISD medical insurance $25.99 self pay option for those not covered under FBISD medical insurance Employee Survey Gage employee interest in fitness and cycling programs Will use to plan upcoming wellness programs catered to employees interests Survey will be released by Friday, 9/18. 8

9 Wellness Initiatives Marathon in a Month Sponsored by Million Mile Month Participants log physical activities during the month of October, which are then converted to miles Choice of doing a marathon (26.1 miles) or Ultra Marathon (50 miles) Small fee of $5 to participate Drawings and prize giveaways for participants Registration opens mid-september Health Awareness Day Wednesday, November 11 4:30 to 6:30 PM Wheeler Field House Will need volunteers to help with set-up, break-down, giveaways, refreshment table, check-in (will send link to sign up to volunteer) Benefits and Wellness Champion Shirts 9
