2 Welcome The South Pacific Environmental Radioactivity Association (SPERA) will hold its 13 th biennial conference in tropical Darwin on 1 3 September This international conference provides the platform for discussion and debate among scientific experts on the occurrence, behaviour, impact and measurement of radioactive species present in the environment through natural processes, or resulting from human activities. The 2014 SPERA conference will attract around 70 delegates from Australia, the South Pacific region and further abroad, including Asia, Europe and North America. Delegates attending the conference will be engaged in key scientific and technical roles within industry and government research organisations. 5 Liability In case of industrial disruption or other external events causing disruption to the Conference, the Organising Committee of the SPERA 13 th Conference accepts no responsibility for loss of monies incurred by sponsor or exhibitors. Public Liability Insurance All companies must have their own public liability insurance policy. Full details pertaining to policy number, company and amount must be provided on your booking form. Privacy Personal information, as defined under the national privacy legislation, The Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2001, will be treated in accordance with the National Privacy Principles and only shared with related or third parties in accordance with those principles.
