Please cntact yur recruiter r HR representative shuld yu have any questins r require supprt. Backgrund Check Prcess Yu will be asked t prvide persnal infrmatin as a part f the backgrund check prcess. It is imprtant that yu prvide cmplete and accurate infrmatin. If yu are unsure abut any details, verify the infrmatin befre supplying it as dishnesty may preclude yu frm emplyment. It is imprtant that yu prvide the requested infrmatin as sn as pssible. If yu anticipate any delays, cntact yur recruiter/hr immediately. 1. Sectin 6: Cnsent This sectin must be signed by the applicant. If a parent/guardian has signed in the cnsent sectin they cnsent t the AFP cnducting a NPC n their sn/daughter/ward. 9 Spent Cnvictins Legislatin The aim f spent cnvictins legislatin is t prevent discriminatin n the basis f certain previus cnvictins. Spent cnvictins legislatin limits the use and disclsure f lder, less serius cnvictins and findings f guilt. There are sme ffences excluded frm being spent where the check is required fr certain purpses as indicated in the table abve these ffences will be released regardless f hw ld they are. Where a recrd exists within an Australian plice jurisdictin, relevant spent cnvictin legislatin/plicies gverning the release f that infrmatin fr that jurisdictin will be applied. As a result certain cnvictins will nt be released prvided this is in accrdance with the relevant legislatin/plicies. Fr Cmmnwealth recrds the AFP applies the prvisins within Part VIIC f the Crimes Act 1914 and fr ACT recrds prvisins within the ACT Spent Cnvictins Act 2000 are applicable. If further infrmatin r clarificatin is required please cntact the individual jurisdictin where the recrd is held. Prvisin f False r Misleading Infrmatin Yu are asked t certify that the persnal infrmatin yu have prvided n this frm is crrect. Where yur check is fr emplyment related purpses and the result is t be prvided t yur emplyer r ther rganisatin, discvery f any false r misleading infrmatin may be reprted by the AFP and may impact n the decisin being undertaken by the emplyer r rganisatin. The AFP prvides infrmatin, with yur cnsent, t the emplyer r rganisatin but takes n part in any subsequent assessment. Disputed Recrd Enquiries If yu believe the infrmatin prvided n yur plice certificate is incrrect r inaccurate a Disputed Recrd frm (CR 1200) is available frm the AFP website. This frm shuld be frwarded t the AFP thrugh the agency r rganisatin with whm yu have ldged yur applicatin fr a Natinal Plice Check. Include any additinal infrmatin r dcuments supprting yur enquiry t enable the AFP t mre accurately assess yur applicatin. In sme instances the AFP may require cmparisn fingerprints t reslve sme disputes. Applicants will be ntified in such instances. The Privacy Cmmissiner is respnsible fr ensuring the prtectin f private infrmatin relating t individuals. This includes investigating instances where infrmatin has been released imprperly r incrrectly. An individual wh believes the standards dealing with disclsure and use f ld cnvictin infrmatin have been breached may apply t the Privacy Cmmissiner fr an investigatin f the matter.
