PARIS-NICE CHALLENGE 2018 edition Article 1 - DEFINITION Paris-Nice Challenge is a non-timed randosportive which will take place on roads which are open to traffic, of which the third edition is scheduled on the Promenade des Anglais in Nice on Saturday 10 th March at 9am (hereinafer, the Event ), the day before the eighth stage of the Paris-Nice professional race. The route will cover a one-hundred-and-ten-kilometre loop starting and finishing in Nice. Only two climbs will be timed. Participants will be informed of their individual and team times, but there will not be an overall ranking. The Event is organised by Amaury Sport Organisation (hereinafter, A.S.O. and the Organiser ) under the authority of the Fédération Française de Cyclisme (French Cycling Federation hereinafter, the FFC ) with the support of the TDF Sport association. The race has been registered with the Île-de-France cycling committee. The present Rules may be modified until the day of the EVENT. As a result, the riders registered for the Event (hereinafter, the Participants ) will be informed of the eventual modification in writing. In the event of any inconsistency between the terms of the present Rules and ASO Challenges General Terms of Sale, the terms of the Rules shall prevail. Article 2 PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS The race is open to all amateur riders born on or before 10 th March Participants born in 2000 who are still minors after 10th March 2000 will be allowed to participate on the condition that they provide proof of parental consent. Riders are reminded that checks will be carried out during the Event to ensure that it takes place according to these regulations. It is expressly indicated that riders take part in the Event at their own risk and solely under their own responsibility. By registering and taking part in the Event, each Participant recognises that this randosportive is physically demanding and requires training beforehand. Article 3 - REGISTRATIONS Registrations for the Event can be made exclusively on subject to availability, from 2 nd November 2017 at 10 am. 1/9
The tariffs are as follows: - From 2 nd November to 17 th November 2017 at 11.59am: 28 including tax. (Twenty-eight euros including tax); - From 17 th November 2017 at 12 noon to 25 th February 2018 at pm: 33 including tax. (Thirty-three euros including tax); - From 25 th February 2018 at 12 noon to 9 th November 2018: 40 including tax (forty euros including tax); including tax. (Two hundred euros including tax) for the registration of a team of 7 (seven) Participants. Anyone who wants to take part in the Event must register as an ASO Challenges member beforehand and fill in a form. The Organiser reserves the right to limit the number of Participants in the Event for safety reasons. All registrations are personal, final and irrevocable, and refunds cannot be issued under any circumstances (in particular, without this list being exhaustive, for a registration error, a lack of availability or an impediment for medical reasons). Registrations cannot be transferred under any circumstances. Anyone who transfers his race number to another person will be held responsible in the event that the latter is the victim of or causes an accident during the race. The Organiser refuses all liability in the event of an accident occurring under these circumstances and reserves the right to exclude the participant definitively from the Event. Additional services and products will be offered to Participants when they register. The purchase of these services and products is final and irrevocable, and refunds cannot be issued under any circumstances. Article 4 COLLECTION OF RACE NUMBERS Race numbers can be collected from the Welcome Village set up on the Promenade des Anglais, in Nice, on Friday 9 th March 2018 from 2pm to 7pm and on Saturday 10 th March 2018 from 8am to 9.15am, subject to providing one of the mandatory documents mentioned in Article 2 and the following documents: - the notification letter sent by ; - a valid proof of identity. Race numbers will not be sent by post. Each Participant must collect his race number personally. Frame numbers will be given to Participants upon presentation of the confirmation of their registration and a proof of identity. They must be placed on the handlebars to ensure that they are visible throughout the entire Event. Article 5 MANDATORY AND FORBIDDEN EQUIPMENT 2/9
In order to ensure the safety and smooth running of each cycling race, all Participants must arrive at the start of the Event equipped with the following mandatory equipment: - A rigid helmet, whose chinstrap must be fastened at all times*; - A hydration system (water bottle or hydration pack); The following articles are strongly recommended: - A chain tool; - A mobile phone; - Easy fasteners; - Inner tubes; - A pump. To ensure your safety and that of the other Participants, it is strictly prohibited to take part in the Event with a bike fitted with any kind of extension (handlebar ends or triathlon handlebars ). Recumbent bicycles are also forbidden in the Event. Article 6 TIMING The electronic detection system has been selected according to strict reliability criteria. Despite tests conducted by the manufacturers, a very low percentage of cases of non-detection remains. Due to the lack of information resulting from this non-detection, the Organiser may be unable to show the official or real time for the competitor concerned in the ranking. The Organiser cannot be held responsible for this. Timing will be done using an electronic detection system. All the Participants will be given a timing chip stuck on the back of their frame plate. This chip, which is detected by the various antenna at timed segments along the route, makes it possible to check the regularity of the randosportive and register the results. To ensure the event functions smoothly, all Participants must wear their race number on their backs at all times, the timing chip must not be damaged, and their number plate must be positioned on the front of the handlebars. They must not be modified, altered or cut out under any circumstances. Participants who do not follow the route defined by the Organiser, who use human and/or material methods to cross the line, or who cross the finish line without their chipped race number will not be recorded as having finished. Article 7 SAFETY AND MEDICAL ASSISTANCE Safety: It is strictly forbidden to bring any objects to the Event site that may be dangerous or illegal, in particular drugs, firearms, blunt weapons and explosives. 3/9
To access the site and take part in the Event, the Participant recognises and expressly agrees that the Organiser may call upon security personnel who will be authorised to check both people as well as inspecting their personal belongings. Everyone who wishes to access the site must comply with this check. If they refuse to do so they will not be authorised to access the site. The Organiser and the security staff may refuse access to the Event or prevent Participants from taking part if their behaviour is likely to disturb the smooth running of the Event notably under the following, non-exhaustive circumstances: the use of any object which may hinder the randosportive, the circulation and/or safety of other Participants; the use of any distinctive promotion, in any form, of an opinion [political, philosophical or religious] likely to damage the image of the Event. As the Event takes place on roads that are open to traffic, Participants must comply with the rules of the Code de la Route (French Highway Code) and take responsibility for themselves for the full length of the route. In the event of a breach of the Code de la Route (French Highway Code), the Participant will be solely responsible for any accidents that he causes or of which he is a victim, either directly or indirectly. The Participant recognises that cycling on roads that are open to traffic carries certain risks, requiring cycling speed to be monitored at all times and adapted depending on traffic conditions and the state of the road. The Participant fully acknowledges his own vulnerability and accepts the risks involved in the race. To ensure maximum security, the Organiser reserves the right to impose speed limits on certain downhill parts of the course which have been identified as dangerous. Medical Assistance: Medical services for the Event are provided by an approved civil security organisation. For medical reasons, the Organiser may unilaterally decide to remove a Participant from the randosportive, either temporarily or definitively. Article 8 - WITHDRAWALS AND RECOVERY ZONES The Organiser will set up recovery zones along the route: the precise locations will be communicated to Participants via the race s website ( Each zone will be in operation from the estimated time of passage of the first competitor until the estimated time of passage of the last competitor. Except in the event of injury or bike failure, all competitors wishing to withdraw will be required to make their way to one of these zones in order to be transported to the race finish. All Participants who fail to set off from these zones before the cut-off times will be required to reach the finish by their own means and will no longer be offered transportation from a recovery zone. They will no longer be considered by the Organiser to be Participants in the race. In the event of injury or bike failure etc. making it impossible to reach the finish line, the Participant can call the Organiser to be picked up as soon as possible. The emergency telephone number to call is as follows: + 33 (0) /9
Article 9 - FIGHT AGAINST DOPING Paris-Nice Challenge is an event organised under the authority of the FFC. As a result, anti-doping tests may be organised. Participants in the Event undertake to rigorously respect the ban on doping, as well as the measures concerning anti-doping tests, according to the laws and regulations in force, in particular articles L et seq. of the French Sports Code. Article 10 RESPECTING THE ENVIRONMENT In order to respect the environment and the natural surroundings in which the event takes place, it is strictly forbidden to leave litter (paper, plastic wrappers) on the route. Bins will be provided at all feeding zones. They must be used by the Participants. Participants must hold onto their litter and wrappers and wait until they reach the places set up by the Organiser to dispose of them. The Organiser reserves the right to exclude riders who deliberately dispose of their litter outside of the designated areas. Article 11 - INSURANCE Civil liability insurance: In accordance with current legislation, the organisers have taken out insurance covering the financial consequences of its civil liability, that of its officials and that of all the Participants in the Event. As for the civil liability of the Participants themselves, the aforementioned insurance policy will only cover accidents caused by participants during the sporting event. Moreover, this cover will take effect in addition to other insurance which they might have or if they do not have any insurance at all. A copy of the insurance policy is available to all Participants upon request. Personal accident: All the Participants in the Event, whether or not they have licences issued by a sports federation, may take out insurance by post as of now, or at the latest, when they collect their bib. This policy will pay out a sum in the event of physical injury (death or permanent disability) as a result of an accident which has occurred on the race route. Compensation, according to the damages, will be paid if the insured person has an accident while participating in the sports event. This insurance is optional but highly recommended. It can be taken out in addition to or instead of any similar insurance cover and, in particular, any cover provided by a sports licence. The information notice and application form are available on the Event's website. Material damage: The Organiser will not be held responsible for damage (theft, breakage, loss, etc.) to Participants personal belongings, not even those left in its care. Participants may not, 5/9
therefore, take action against the Organiser for any damage caused to their equipment. Taking out insurance against such risks is the responsibility of the participant. Article 12 USE OF IMAGES Participants Images: The Event may be recorded for public communication purposes, in any form (notably through photos, videos, etc.), on any existing or future media, in any format, for any communication to the public around the world, for any use including advertising and commercial use. As such, each Participant expressly grants the Organiser, its assignees and beneficiaries (notably its commercial partners) permission to record and reproduce, on any media and using any means, and subsequently to reproduce and represent, without remuneration of any kind, their name, voice, image and, more generally, their sporting activity within the context of the Event (hereinafter their Image ), for a duration which may not exceed 5 (five) years following the date of the Event. The Participant expressly authorises the Organiser to concede to Event partners sub-licences for the use of the Image for commercial and advertising purposes. The Participant gives his express and irrevocable permission for the Organiser, its delegates and its successors (notably its commercial partners) in order to meet the requirements of advertising, promotional and/or commercial campaigns, to 1) apply any modifications, additions or deletions that it sees fit when using the participant s image in any of the circumstances defined above, and 2) associate and/or combine the participant s image with signatures, catchphrases, slogans, captions, brands, distinctive signs, legal notices, visuals and, in general, any element of any kind chosen by the Organiser to illustrate the means of communication in which the images are used. The Participant guarantees that he is not bound by an exclusive contract relating to the use of his Image. The Organiser, its delegates and its successors are expressly forbidden from using a Participant s name, voice or image in any format of a pornographic, racist or xenophobic nature, and more generally are forbidden from any use that is detrimental to the participant s dignity. Participants are informed and unconditionally accept that their Image, recorded by the official representatives of the Organiser, may be accessible to the public without restriction on the ASO Challenges website in the Members Area and/ or on the Event website under the Results section. In terms of the Event site, Participants agree that they may be identified by any internet user by their last name, first name and/or race number Event Images: Any communication of still and/or moving images of the Event recorded by the Participant during their participation in the Event must be restricted to personal use relative to their experience and may not, under any circumstances, be used for advertising and/or commercial purposes outside the Event. 6/9
