Almost all municipalities indicate this was an effective tax source and the public acceptance was very good. Two municipalities indicated some objection by industry. Eighty per cent deposit the revenue in their general fund. However, others indicated depositing these revenues in such funds as; special fund, police fund, beautification, utility fund, and contingency fund. This survey is based on 111 responses by the 132 municipalities listed by the Illinois Commerce Commission as participants in the Utility Tax as authorized by the Utility Tax Act.
