Alternative containers encase the body and can be made of materials like fiberboard or composition materials (with or without an outside covering). The containers we provide are cardboard. You may choose only those items you desire. However, any funeral arrangements you select will include a charge for our professional services and overhead. If legal or other requirements mean you must buy any items you did not specifically ask for, we will explain the reasons in writing on the statement we provide, describing the funeral goods and services you selected. 1. Basic Services of Funeral Directors and Staff and Overhead: $ This charge is composed of the standard business fees required to operate the mortuary, and maintain the facilities and motor equipment in readiness for service. It also includes consultation with the family to plan the funeral services, as well as consultation with Doctors, the Coroner, Health Dept. Personnel, and others as indicated. Permanent Record storage and standard accounting procedures are included also. This fee for basic services and overhead will be added to the total cost of the funeral arrangements you select. 2. Documentation and Paperwork $ Removal From Place of Death to Funeral Home (within 25 miles) $ This includes one or two staff persons. Each additional staff person needed for removal is $100. more. 4. Care and Sanitation of Remains: Professional Embalming $ Except in certain special cases, embalming is not required by law. Embalming may be necessary however, if you select certain funeral arrangements, such as a funeral with viewing. If you do not want embalming you usually have the right to choose an arrangement that does not require you to pay for it, such as Direct Cremation or Immediate Burial. (If Autopsy required, add $200 for Repair.) 5. Washing, Disinfecting, and Setting Features $ of Un-Embalmed Remains (Inspection Viewing-6 persons max., 1 hr.) 6. Our Burial Containers Our funeral home makes no representation or warranty about the protective value of outer burial container other than those made by the manufacturer. The only warranties granted in connection with goods sold with this funeral service are the express written warranties, if any, extended by the manufacturers. In most areas of the country, state or local law does not require that you buy a container to surround the casket in the grave. However, many cemeteries require that you have such a container so that the grave will not sink in. Either a Grave Liner or Burial Vault will satisfy these requirements. Grave Liners do not have a bottom and are available only through some cemeteries. They are designed to prevent the grave from collapsing from above and on the sides. Vaults have a bottom and are designed to enclose the casket. Either the Grave Liner or Burial Vault will meet the requirements of most cemeteries.
