SHORT TERM / DAY TRADING Trading is an activity purely for short term. Taking advantage of a particular trend, momentum or news based movement in shares. Trading could involve both long and short positions. 11 What Instrument to Trade. NIFTY.(This is a market capitalization weighted index of 50 stocks representing various sectors. The stocks included in this all have market-cap. above 500 crore and good liquidity. The base for the NSE-50 index is the close prices on3 Nov. 1995andis 1000.) # Liquidity is very good. #Diversifiedsoriskis less. # Nifty represents the maximum market participants so most closely mimics the psychology of the market hence all technical analysis tools apply best to this.

12 TECHNICAL ANALYSIS It is the study of prices with charts being the primary tool. History: Modern day TA stems from Dow Theory developed around 1900 by Charles Dow. Human Element: Price of a security represents a consensus between buyer and seller. This level depends upon the expectation / perception of investors/traders. the price therefore is determined by every market participant. Future can be found in the past: TA is the process of analyzing historical prices in an effort to determine future prices-history repeats itself.

13 Charts: AChart is a constantly updated record of investors recognition of fundamentals and their willingness to try and discount the future. It is a graphic record of a Psychological State. It is ntreal value that drives markets up /down but peoples Perception of Future Value. Price is the balance between Supply and Demand. Demand pushes price Up, Supply brings it Down.. Price can be displayed in various different ways. Line chart, OHLC, Candlestick.

14 SUPPORT & RESISTANCE Support is the price at which buyers take control and are willing to buy & sellers are unwilling to sell. Resistanceis the price at which sellers take control & are willing to sell but buyers are unwilling to buy above this price. Price at which a trade takes placeis the consensus between buyer and seller. Thus support levels indicate price where majority of investors believe that prices will move higher while resistance levels indicate the price at which a majority of investors feel prices will move lower.

15 The BaljekarSystem is Based on the following Principles of Technical Analysis 1.Pivot Trading System it is used to calculate levels. 2. Dow Theory Major Trend, Intermediate Trend & Minor Trend. (Maj. > Int. > Min.) Trend is your Friend-trend once established continues in that direction until a equal and opposite force changes it. This is true on all time periods-daily, Weekly, Monthly, Yearly.

16 5. The Nature of Market Activity during a Trading day ie. Increased activity during certain periods of the trading day. 6. Repetitive Levels of Daily High Low & Close for each Trading Day of the Week. 7.The Behavior of NIFTY on various days of the Week.

17 What are OPTIONS? Baljekar System mainly uses OPTIONS for the actual trades. Option is a derivative of NIFTY-- it derives its value from the underlying ie NIFTY. Option is the Right but not the Obligation to Buy Nifty (Call) or Sell Nifty (Put) at a given Price (Strike) at a given time in the future (Expiry) For this a Premium is paid to the seller (writer) of the option. In buying an option the gain is unlimited the loss is limited to the premium paid. The loss is unlimited and gain limited to the premium collected for the seller.

18 BULLISH SETUP: 1. Go Long on Futures 2. Buy Call Option. (loss limited, profit unlimited) 3. Sell Put Options. (loss unlimited, profit limited) BEARISH SETUP : 1. Go Short on Futures. 2. Buy Put Options. (profit unlimited, loss limited) 3. Sell Call Options.(loss unlimited, profit limited)

19 MONEY MANAGEMENT Use the Money Management Formula. (will be taught in the seminar) Always Use Stops.( will be taught in seminar) Plan for Disaster : Always think what if trade goeswrong...? How to salvage a loosing Trade. (this will be taught in the seminar.) The Psychology of Loss in Trading will be discussed in seminar and how to beware of this.
