In addition, students will learn how they can apply QuickBooks to work and life. Beginner Excel Workshop June 11th, Saturday, 9am-1pm Class Fee: $25 Senior Citizen Class Fee: $15 CRN: During this one day workshop style course, students will learn the very basics of Microsoft Office s Excel Software. Students will learn to create basic spreadsheets and use basic functions, such as how to sort, within the program. Intermediate to Advanced Excel Workshop June 25th, Saturday, 9am to 1pm Class Fee: $25 Senior Citizen Class Fee: $15 CRBegiN: The one day workshop is designed for those that already have a basic understanding of Microsoft Office s Excel Software. 2 Dog Training Introduction to K9 Nose Work August 13th, Saturday, 10am-4pm Class Fee: $80 with dog, $40 for audit without dog CRN: Audit CRN: This one day workshop teaches students the most basic elements of Canine Scent work. The course is a prerequisite to the Beginning Nose Work Course. Continuing Nose Work Class April 30th though August 6th, Saturdays, 11am to 3pm Class Fee: $150 CRN: This course is an extension for those that took the Beginning Nose Work course. The course continues to work on the 4 elements of Canine Scent work searches: Container, Interiors, Exteriors and Vehicles. Master Nose Work Class April 28th through August 4th, Thursdays, 11am to 3pm Class Fee: $150 CRN: Master Nose Work is for the experienced nose work teams. Dogs work on all three required odors, white birch, anise, and clove. Health and Wellness CPR & First Aid Certification Saturday, August 6th, 7am-4pm (CRN 81039) Instructor: Tanya Stoffle per session Senior Citizen Class Fee: $10, Room CT210 This course is for those that need to learn the fundamentals of Basic Life Support, so that they are able to take the appropriate course of action should an emergency arise. 3 Studio Arts Oil Painting Plein Air June 8th through July 13th, Wednesdays, 4pm to 7pm Instructor: Jane Hume Class Fee: $75 Senior Citizen Class Fee: $35 CRN: Plein Air is the French way to say painting on location. Students that participate in this course will have the opportunity to paint a variety of scenic views during the warm summer months. Students are not required to purchase any supplies for this course. Watercolor Painting June 1st through July 6th, Wednesdays, 1:30pm to 4pm Instructor: Sis Pell CRN: In this class, students will learn the basics of water color paint. They will paint using a variety of techniques to help them achieve their artistic vision. Ceramics June 20th through July 27th, Monday and Wednesday, 4pm to 7pm Instructor: Jerry Paulson Class Fee: $125 Senior Citizen Class Fee: $75 Where: CNCC, 2801 W 9th Craig, Co, Room 195 CRN: In ceramics, students will be able to use basic clay techniques to create three dimensional works of art. Students will learn to sculpt with clay, throw clay on a wheel, and glaze and fire their creations. Writing Wednesday Memoirs Session 1: June 22nd through July 27th,Wednesdays, 8:15am to 10:15am Session 2: Aug. 3rd through Sept. 7th,Wednesdays, 8:15am to 10:15am Instructor: Nancy Loughran Senior Citizen Class Fee: $10 Where: The Journey at First Baptist Church Session 1 CRN: Session 2 CRN: Everyone has a story, and during Wednesday Memoirs course, students are able to find their voice and tell their story. Throughout the course students will write stories from their own life expereinces and share them with the class. The instructor and students will assist the reader in finding ways to improve the way that their story is delivered. Graphology July 11th, 12th, 14th, and 15th from 10am to 12pm Instructor: Dianne Wall Class Fee: $40 An additional $10 will need to be brought to the first day of class to cover full work booklet and a beautiful quill writing pen. You will gain an understanding of how a person s handwriting can be a window into their mood and personality.
4 Sewing UFO (Unfinished Sewing Projects) May 15th through August 12th, Fridays, 9:30am to 12:30pm Instructor: Linda Pinnt Class Fee: $100 1/2 UFO Senior Citizen Class Fee: $40 1/2 UFO Senior Citizen Class Fee: $25 CRN: 81015, 1/2 UFO CRN: UFO allows students to work on their sewing projects with the guidance of an expert instructor and seamstress as well as take advantage of the sewing facility. Students are able to strengthen their sewing and quilting skills by being in a group setting where they can always ask questions. Beginning Bag Sewing July 20th through August 24th, Wednesdays, 6pm-8pm Instructor: Shai Haggerty Senior Citizen Class Fee: $25 In this Bag Sewing class students will learn the ins and outs of sewing beautiful and highly functional bags. Students can expect to learn everything from cutting fabric and piecing a pattern together to learning to sew materials such as interfacing, zippers, binding, and even clear vinyl. All material will be provided for students with the exception of fabric and coordinating thread. Sewing machines will be available, but students are encouraged to bring their own. Project 1 Fabric Required: 1/3 yard coordinating fabric 1/4 yard coordinating fabric 1 charm pack (pack of 42 pre-cut squares) coordinating button Project 2 Fabric Required: 1/2 yard main fabric Intermediate Bag Sewing July 19th through August 3rd, Tuesdays, 6pm-8pm Instructor: Shai Haggerty Senior Citizen Class Fee: $25 In this Bag Sewing class students will learn the ins and outs of sewing beautiful and highly functional bags. Students can expect to learn a fun new bag pattern and all of the entricate parts that will make it versatile and practical for use. All material will be provided for students with the exception of fabric and coordinating thread. Sewing machines will be available, but students are encouraged to bring their own. Project 1 Fabric Required: 5/8 yard main fabric 1 1/4 yard coordinating fabric 1 1/4 yard lining fabric Project 2 Fabric Required: 1 yard main fabric 3/4 yard coordinating fabric 3/4 yard coordinating fabric 1/4 yard accent fabric 1/4 yard fabric for binding 1 yard canvas fabric Cake Decorating Fondant Work August 1st through August 22nd, Mondays, 6pm to 8:30pm Instructor: Kandee Dilldine CRN: Students in this course will learn all of the basics of working with fondant. Students will learn how to manipulate, color, and mold with fondant. From covering cakes to creating figurines and flowers, students that take this course will walk away knowing the techniques and tips required to create beautiful fondant cakes and embellishments.
5 Firearm Handling & Safety Golf for Everyone Cont. This 4 week golf course is geared for all people that would like to experience working with Yampa Valley Golf Course s Golf Pro, Bob Mueller. This crash course will get students comfortable with the sport as well as assist them in refining skills they may already possess. Pistol: Conceal Carry Section 1: June 18th, Saturday, 8am to 4pm (CRN: 81030) Section 2: July 16th, Saturday, 8am to 4pm (CRN: 81031) Section 3: Aug. 6th, Saturday, 8am to 4pm (CRN: 81032) Instructor: Matt Winey Senior Citizen Class Fee: $45 Where: Bears Ears Sportsmans Range at Cedar Mountain This course will ensure students gain an understanding of firearms safety rules, Colorado statutes relating to the use of force, Colorado statutes relating to concealed weapons, as well as the principles of firing a handgun. This course will cover lecture material as well as range safety and exercises in a range qualifying course. Students will need to furnish their own handgun and ammo. The course will have safety glasses and ear protection available, but it is reccommended that students bring their own. Golf Golf for Everyone June 7th through June 28th, Tuesdays, 5:30pm to 6:30pm Instructor: Bob Mueller Class Fee: $125 Senior Citizen Class Fee: $100 Where: Yampa Valley Golf Course CRN: Scuba Diving Open Water Certification Session 1: June 7th through June 23rd, Tuesdays and Thursdays 5:30pm-8:30pm, Homestead trip on June 25th & 26th Instructor: Joe Kruger Class Fee: $465 Senior Citizen Class Fee: $390 Where: CNCC Bell Tower, 50 College Dr., Craig, CO, Room 201 Session 2 CRN: Students will gain the classroom and underwater instruction necessary to receive a Scuba Diving Open Water Certification. During the course students will receive basic instruction on diving equipment, safety, dive tables, and other pertinent information a student needs for safe scuba diving. After receiving the certification, students will be able to scuba dive on their own in open water. The course will consist of three weeks of classroom instruction (one class will be spent at the city pool) and a two day trip to Homestead in Midway, Utah.
