2 SPG CHAIR SPG FORUM CHAIR Simeon Gilchrist Edwin Coe LLP Linda Farish RMT Accountants and Business Advisors CONFERENCE OVERVIEW I very much look forward to welcoming you all to the 2018 SPG Forum which, this year, is to be held in the magnificent surroundings of Heythrop Park, Oxfordshire. Pleasant though the setting may be, I am delighted to report that we can anticipate a thoroughly informative and entertaining Forum line-up, with content geared to the SPG community more than ever before. As ever, however, the Forum presents a unique opportunity for members and delegates to meet, network and exchange ideas and information that matters in day to day practice. The programme this year is delivered in the midst of a stakeholder review at R3, and it is a testament to the course director, Linda Farish, and to the SPG committee, that this year s Forum nonetheless shows all the signs of improving on the success that was the 2017 Forum. As ever, however, the Forum is about you, the membership, and your feedback is essential in maintaining the presence that the SPG community enjoys within R3. To this end, we are encouraging more than ever delegate interaction with the committee members, all of whom will be tagged and keen to talk! The technical content is truly excellent this year, with presentations from HMRC, the Insolvency Service, and the IPA on Working with the Profession, Live for One Day Only from the Insolvency Service, Submitting Claims to the Redundancy Payments Office and Regulation and Complaints: The Why and How respectively. We will review the legal landscape and hope, against hopes, not to mention the B word, unless it is in the context of a more difficult commercial environment, with all the consequences for us that this might bring. Our keynote speaker this year is the Rugby legend that is Will Greenwood. We are delighted to welcome Will not only as a World Cup winner but as a team player and analyst, and to learn from Will his view of the essential skill sets necessary for any competitive professional. I look forward to catching up with you all in Oxfordshire DELEGATE FEEDBACK: An excellent conference. Well run, topical, good gathering of friends old and new. Well-structured for the smaller firm Excellent organisation and diverse programme Very practical and interesting updates Good spread of IP relevant topics Good mix of speakers. Overall, good technical and practical content
