2 INTERNATIONAL CURRENCY BUZZ Forex - Dollar Edges Slightly Higher but Remains Under Pressure Forex - EUR/USD extra upside hinges on ECB Forex - GBP/USD weaker, breaches EUR/USD Iforex Market Insight Yesterday s broad-based US dollar advance regained strength, knocking-off the EUR/ USD pair back towards the midpoint of 1.19 handle, as investors gear up for the US economic releases and a slew of speeches by the Fed officials, with the Fed Chair- Designate Powell s speechlikely to hog the limelight in the day ahead. The USD index regains 93 handle, up +0.16% on the day. Moreover, a better sentiment seen around the European stock markets also add to the weight on the funding currency Euro, leaving the rates below levels. The spot remains on track to extend its retreat from two-month tops of , as markets take profits off the table ahead of a big week ahead, with the Eurozone flash CPI, US GDP figures and US Senate vote on tax reform due on the cards. In the meantime, the US goods trade balance, S&P/CS Composite-20 HPI y/y and CB consumer confidence dataalongside the Fedspeaks will offer near-term trading opportunities. GBP/USD Cable is down almost a cent since yesterday s fresh multi-week tops in the area, dragged lower by a continuation of the bid tone around the greenback. In addition, Brexit jitters appear somewhat reignited following talks around the so-called Irish hard border, which are also weighing on GBP sentiment. Further out, the OECD now sees the UK economy expanding 1.5% this year and 1.2% in Earlier in the session, BoE s M.Carney argued that banks should be able to lend through disorderly Brexit. Governor Carney held a press conference under the BoE s Financial Stability Report. Nothing scheduled today in the UK docket, while the speech by next Fed Chief J.Powell should grab all the attention later in the NA session.
