1 Forex Weekly Report Powered by Future Investment Monday 24 Dec 2018 Market Overview The US Dollar will be overwhelmingly pre-occupied with a single event in the week ahead: the FOMC monetary policy announcement. A rate hike is heavily favored, with the priced-in probability of an increase implied in Fed funds futures at a convincing 72.3 percent. To that end, it will be the accompanying forecast update and press conference with Chair Jerome Powell that offer meaningful direction cues. USD/JPY may face range-bound conditions ahead of the Federal Reserve interest rate decision on December 19 as it struggles to test the monthly-high (113.82), but the fresh developments surroundings monetary policy are likely to shake up the exchange rate as the central bank is widely expected to deliver a 25bd rate-hike. In current market conditions, and with the total lack of a cohesive Brexit plan, trading Sterling is nigh on impossible to recommend from a risk reward stance, leaving our outlook neutral even though the path of least resistance for the British Pound is pointing lower.
