This is the way that you, as an owner, note your concerns and approval for the actions taken by your Board of Directors. Even more important, it is the way you, as an owner, do business with the Association. It is your right and your responsibility to vote your proxy each year. If enough proxies are not voted, there will not be a quorum of voters and the annual meeting will have to be rescheduled. If you are on property and plan to attend the meeting, TERRIFIC. This is the best of situations. Just in case, it does not hurt to turn in you proxy early even if you are on property. If you cannot attend the annual meeting, the Association and Board still need your proxy. Congratulations to William Julian on his promotion to be the new Kamaole Sands AOAO Property Supervisor. William has exhibited great leadership and work ethics while being employed here at Kamaole Sands as well as being a jack of all trades. William will be the Lead Maintenance & Pool Attendant Supervisor and also assist with the after-hours MOD duties that deal with emergency maintenance and security issues throughout the property. 2

5 Loretta Klimczak - Landscape Chairman 2018 Annual Report This year has been a very busy year for landscaping. We planted Ixoria bushes along the entranceway to building 4. We refurbished the covered walkway beds at buildings 6,7,8,9, and 5. This was required due to the damage caused by the scaffolding used for the painting project. We planted a Travelor Palm as a focal point in the bed behind the stairway at building 10. We added slates in the street side fence near the smoking bench at building 10 for privacy. We also installed a border with Asystasia ground cover between the tree line on the lanai side of buildings 8 and 9. We added cinder to the bare areas behind the elevators at buildings 8 and 9. We will continue with the entrance area to the Banana Grill in All in all, a lot was accomplished this past year. Tennis Committee The Tennis Committee presented a proposal to the AOAO Board at their December 6th meeting. The proposal was to permit Rick Kepler, a United States Professional Tennis Association certified professional to give a FREE tennis clinic on Thursdays from am and offer private or small group feebased lessons to owners and guest and provide a small portion of the collected fees to the AOAO. The AOAO Board approved the proposal for six months. The FREE Clinics on December January 3rd drew ( respectively) increasing numbers of owners and guest participants. The clinic is designed for all level players and has the following essential elements: Tennis Movement Stretching; Forehand, Backhand, Volley Drills; and Short Games. The Tennis Clinic announcement reminders are made at the Wednesday Mai Tai Parties. Participants are requested to signup for the clinic at the Registration Desk. Tennis players interested in lessons can get Rick Kepler s business card at the front desk. The Tennis Committee is excited to offer the USPTA tennis clinics and availability of tennis lessons on our courts. making Kamaole Sands an up and coming tennis destination on Maui. Be sure to mention this in your condo information. A reminder that the Owners Mix and Match Doubles Tennis Tournament open to all levels of players is scheduled for the week of the Owner s Annual Meeting in March. 5

7 IT Committee Update: 2019 IT Committee Annual Report IT Committee Team: Ed Heller, Al Ramos, Floyd Van Auken & Steve Whipple Accomplishments in 2018: 1. Assisted with the Spectrum digital cable TV conversion Insure that the contract provided for a digital TV box for EACH TV (up to 3) rather the just one per unit. This saved each owner money by not having to rent extra digital TV boxes from Spectrum. Wrote a document for the owners detailing how to use the new TV equipment and services (available on the AOAO website). 2. Assisted with the Spectrum Internet upgrade Insure that Spectrum provided KS with the latest WiFi router (802.11ac) to provide the fastest possible Internet speed. Wrote a document for the owners detailing how to use the new Spectrum modem and WiFi router (available on the AOAO website). 3. Installed a new AOAO purchased WiFi router in the pool area This unit provides better security and improved performance. 4. Trained Castle staff how to configure high speed WiFi for their units 5. Assisted owners with the new Spectrum equipment Outlook for 2019: Continue assisting owners with the new Spectrum equipment Important things for owners to remember: Do NOT plug Spectrum equipment into the switched AC outlets! For maximum Internet performance, both the cable modem and WiFi router should be restarted (unplugged) on a regular basis (weekly). For best WiFi performance, the router should be placed vertically, up high, and away from other electronics. If you still cannot get a good WiFi signal throughout your unit, you may consider purchasing a mesh WiFi system to replace the Spectrum WiFi router. Happy Birthday Frank!!!! 7

This is an important time when the Board holds its annual homeowners meeting to pass on information important to the supervision of your investment at Kamaole Sands. This is a time to vote for directors for the future. This is the time to ask questions. This is the time to meet neighbors. This is the time to vote. Please plan on attending. Bldg. & Bldg. 1-5 & 6-10 March June September December CHANGE IN HOUSE RULES In order to protect the units of all owners from pest invasion and to save money, the Board has made the following changes to the House Rules. Owners should notify their rental agents to ensure that incoming guests know when the pest control is scheduled. A paper describing the process with be posted on each building and given out at the front desk when pest control is scheduled. Article III, Section 7. Responsibility of Owner. Owners shall be responsible for insuring compliance by their lessees and guests with the House Rules. Owners shall be responsible, including liability for damages, for the conduct of their lessees and guests. Owners shall be responsible for ensuring that Pest Control is allowed to enter and treat the unit on either the 1 st or 2 nd scheduled day each quarter. The only exception will be if there is someone in the unit with a documented medical condition which precludes being in the vicinity of the specified chemicals used for spraying. Owners should ensure their guests know this House Rule. Refusal by the guest, rental agent or owner may result in a fine designated by the Board. (Note: A new House Rule was passed by the Board which makes the owner responsible if they or their guest refuses to have the unit sprayed. The reason it is important for every unit to be sprayed every quarter is to keep our wild and wooly tropical bugs under control. If the unit is not sprayed during the regular spray schedule, the owner will be charged $100, $78.12 for the call back of the Pest Control Company and $21.88 for the processing) 9
